08:0667566Yes I see this item was featured in the Dubris column. As Howard said earlier Vic perhaps if you had explained more about what you had in mind maybe it could have been picked up better. Unfortunately the initial posts were a bit vague so they didnt generate interest. I didnt spot it myself early enough either.

08:2267573Ok Paul what I planned to do ,was sit at my pc for over 24hours writing new posts and answer the ones we already have I would only get up from my pc to go to the bathroom. We already have the times coming up when we post so you can see if and when I stop..the max/time i coukld stop for is 15mins in any one hour with the max/stops over 24hours would be 6 only. The funding could be by the amount of hours I keep going and by how many new posts I do.Any funding at the end would be send or handed in to the Dover forum but not myself. And that is about it,I must say that already I do have new posts standing by,part of them would be about my life some about Dover, some about my family ,but most would be about our town and how it has changed from the 1940s.

08:3367581Interesting Vic...it could be done I guess with no problem , but just two things...
1. You would need to stick to just one thread because 24 hours of posts all over all the threads would not be fair on the other members, it would reduce it all to the Vic Matcham one man show, which wouldnt be quite the thing.
2. Also re the funding...we dont have the staff levels on doverforum Vic to collect funding, we are threadbare re staff as it is and already fully stretched... and indeed we dont have an office to hand it in to...so your funding idea would need to be re-thought. Wouldnt want you to do it all without sorting out how you could raise some charitable funds for the effort.
Anyway...thats the initial thoughts from this end. Hope thats helpful.

08:3567583I think any fund raising initiative has to be given credit, and i'm sure vic will sort out the finer details in time
ALL POSTS ARE MY OWN PERSONAL VIEWS

08:4567588I do not know what happen there my post did not come up.
Well there you have it if one of you can sort out and handel the funding side of things it is on,but the funding side is a no from me I am not very good at handing cash etc. So I am ready to give it a try if we can sort that out.And we can all take part aswell need not just be me. you can send posts out to me and I will answer back ,I think I can go well over the 24 hour dead line.

is their a plan to open a hospice yet?
if so then the group who are lobbying for it may have a bank account that members can transfer money directly to.

17:3367637Yes it is at Ashford and they need more funding at this time because they are not geting the funding in like they did a year ago. Just because it id not in Dover does not mean we can not help.I would loike any funding we got held by the Forum till it is in,then the boss coukd hand it over to them, I will star it off with £20 but we would need alot more than that.

18:0167646Vic,
Is this the one?
http://www.demelza.org.uk/
If you look at their donations page they have options for online donations where you can specify which fundraising event the donation is for. Why not get in touch and ask them if they can set up a Doverforum option? All you would then have to do is put the link in your signature and job's done.
