Carole, I'm not sure that wearing snow chains will do much for my image..... they might look better on the car.

Lesley: at my age I no longer care about image
I'd rather look daft than fall over and many younger people have asked me where they can buy them.

you can make some bottom scrapers yourselve too :) we got some in the car incase of black ice. They are brilliant, just put them under your shoe and strap them in and walk as usual...

Carole, I was joking, if you could see me in my wet gear taking the dog for her walk you would understand that my image means very little to me!! I'm happiest when dirty, oh no! that gives Howard another excuse.........

The Abbey looks beautiful, really brings back memories of those winters.
My Daughter lives on a farm and the track leading to her house is prone to drifts. Last year, I confidently parked the car in the village and attempted the short walk to her house. I arrived 30 minutes later looking somewhat like a Yeti, much to my Grandaughters delight!

Winter tyres much better than chains. When you have chains on you are limited to 50km/h and when you reach a clear road you have to take them off.

does Ian still have the Caterham? They're great in the snow (not!).

They are a bit costly but worth the investment.
