08:0627404Ido thank you all for your letters on boxing most as a person who has done it and was a trainer I can not agree with most of you but good to see both sides of the story I still feel there is lots more to come yet,so I will just wait and see what turns up.

09:5527414I remember at school having a debate on whether we should ban boxing or hunting.I spoke on banning boxing as human life was far more valuable than a fox's.Bring back hunting and ban boxing or in an ideal world ban them both. However as we don't live in an ideal world women should have free choice for equal pay.
ps Vic.... My brother in law and myself were both boxers and as Bob Hope also a failed boxer once wrote "that I hit the canvas more times than Van Gogh"It probably explains why I am completely "puddled" as me ol' Irish mum would often say.

13:2427420I agree with Vic. The right to have permanent physical damage inflicted on them is one measure of equality that young girls can do without. I was required to take part in boxing at school as a young boy and can vouch for the fact that a hard punch to the solar plexus is jolly painful. It takes the wind right out of you and gives you a horrible stomach ache.
It only causes temporary discomfort to a boy but who is to say what it would do a young girl's plumbing? There would appear to me to be every chance that single or repeated blows might well cause damage that would result in being unable to bear children in later life.
A possible way round it, if boxing is thought to be so important, might be to prohibit blows in that region and to enforce the wearing of padding on the head and stomach.

14:1927421Thank you Ed for your post about it.
But I fear now that women boxers have got the go head to box in the Olympics 2012 that it is to late ,I am just hoping that some in the A.B.A.world will pick up on this post and look at it again,You have to be good to box in the Olympics with alot of bouts done before you get there, so any woman or young girl gets there the damage might have already been done, so it has to be looked at now.

15:4927429Ross Thank you for that I have just had a look at it and read about women boxing,I did not know about the damage that can be done to the ladys Breast which is called Fat Necrosis this is one more reson that women should NOT box,if you are for women boxing please go to the webb on boxing by the B.M.A which Ross has done,it will open your eyes to the damage it can do.Some of you know already that I had about some years ago which put me in hospial for some time and I was out of this world for over aweek, just think if that had been a young girl or lady luck was on my side and got away with no long term damage,do the training by all means it is very good but again please do not let young ladys or girls in the ring it must be stoped.

16:4427433Vic it also clearly and at much greater length describes the damage ALL boxers irrespective of gender can suffer from and concludes that boxing should be banned for ALL.

18:2027441Mr Dixon ,it has nothing to do with equell Rights.
The way I see it in boxing aman only has to think about himself, but with a woman she has to think about two her and a unborn baby,do you not think that the baby should have equell rights to if the mother has been boxing do you not also think that put the babys life in danger.

You already have my views on this matter and I do not wish to make light of the subject matter but maybe you should take a stroll through town on a Friday or Saturday night and witness some of Dovers fair maidens scrapping it out in the Market Sq...it will open your eyes.

I'm afraid I can't agree with your views, and you will NEVER convince me that MALE or FEMALE being battered around the head is good for anyone.
As Others have said, this is not a male or female thing, its should be a debate on is boxing a good thing or not?
I recall when i sat on many sporting boidies there were loads of people out there who realy wanted to see boxing banned altogether, its certainly a debate thats needs to be had.

Ok just on this subject, If boxing is to continue(and i have no clear thoughts either way)
then girls/women have as much right to box as boys/men
Maybe a better education on the problems it may cause
but not been convinced otherwise from postings so far
