Japanese flu is a B strain, excellent information given by a doctor about all three strains on the BBC Breakfast programme this morning.

Sorry Jan I dont watch TV anymore it controls what we watch, how we think and fed a load of bull. Myself would take precautions like washing hands, covering nose/mouth, avoid crowed places or places at all till its all over.Keep your immune system up taking Vit-c and most importantly V-D3 and so on. Lots of Garlic and ginger. Ross said he got the shot but then got flu something not right, Ross you say you was not as bad as others it may be because your immune system dealt with it better or you had a less powerful type maybe the strain in the shot given.
You see the flu mutates so the shots are not going to protect against the strains already here, that what I have read and researched. Is being said that stock piled flu jabs for other strains are just being given for no reason other than cost .People can make their own mind up

According to the BMJ the cost of giving people their 'free' flu jab to the NHS in 2016 was £17.13 a dose.
Asda are knocking them out for £5!

This is just one example of why the NHS needs MORE 'privatisation' not less.

America is down with flu its seems something going on that seems not right. All I can say is protect yourself by wearing mask or cover face if in contact with a lot of people and believe me I covered my face when shopping last week and bought a tone of hand gel to kill the viruses given to all my children to use. I have hospital masks also in case a breakout in my home. Flu shots wont do anything that my opinion and from information I have seen.
However, if you can avoid going out do so and keep children as far away from public places as you can until this rides itself out that my advice and what I would do. Its all about sense but for some reason if this is correct a lot of countries have flu big time and not just one strain.

And yes schools should be closed if all this is true this is area where its a large spreader of flu or anything else and kids go to their grans and grandads and guess what they get it and get very ill and worse. IT MAKES SENSE.

Enough of the NHS is privatised and we've seen the results. Centralised buying of goods and services overseen by someone experienced in the field and with a success record in business will bring down costs dramatically. Studies have shown different trusts sometimes even different hospitals paying wildly different prices for the same thing.

Indeed, an 'orchestrated decline into a dystopian society'. That sounds rather like the neoliberal project in progress, part of which is wasting the NHS.

Flu vaccines are a generally sensible precaution but ARE NOT 100% effective and no one has ever suggested they are.
Each years flu vaccine is made from the predominant strain of flu circulating in the winter months in the opposite hemisphere. Given the rate at which vaccines mutate this is why scientists estimate that in most years flu vaccines have a 70% effectiveness rating i.e. even having the jab means you still have a 30% chance of getting flu, though in these cases it is likely to hit one less hard.
It is therefore sensible if you are in a high risk group to get the jab.
This was all rather beautifully explained yesterday morning by a university prof on Radio4

Here are some of the ingredients you'll find in the flu vaccine:
Egg protein. Many flu vaccines are made by growing the viruses inside fertilized chicken eggs. ...
Preservatives. Vaccine manufacturers add the preservative thimerosal to multidose vaccine vials. ...
Stabilizers. ...
Antibiotics. ...
Polysorbate 80. ...
Formaldehyde.
Egg protein! So hopefully all those boring little vegan veggie-Nazis will avoid being vaccinated and slowly leave the gene pool.

Anyway must go out now and brave all these flu's that are all around so on with my gas mask and all in one suit. Better safe than not that my motto never know maybe there is another few more strains that could be more deadly than these two we got and with the tummy flu on top it all.

We have just returned from Maderia, and had to visit the hospital there as my partner was not well, for those that don't know Maderia is closer to Morocco than Europe. She arrived at the Hospital was triaged and in with the Doctor and out within an hour, in Medway my brother who has lost both legs was also ill, he waited 5 hours for an ambulance then went to bed, the ambulance arrived the following morning.
It would be quicker to go to Gatwick fly to Maderia see a Doctor then fly home, providing you have your EHIC the treatment is free!!!
One of the reasons we are short of Doctors is we gave them a massive rise so that they would open longer hours/more days and so now they don't work as many hours or days as before.I think our Health Service is amazing but when you hear the Health Secretary say the NHS staff are working very hard sometimes even all night? Our health service and Nurses always work nights, so I don't know where he has been!
The reason why the Health service is on its knees is easy.
1. The money is not keeping up with what the Health Service need.
2. Not enough Doctors or Nurses are coming through the system.
3.More people are living longer and having more treatment.
item 3 is good news items 1 and 2 are down to this Government
.

So where is the weakened flu bugs in this lot to be immune you have to have little weak viruses??? As the strain is upon us it takes months to make a batch so too late for latest strain???
Googled:
Polysorbate 80 is used as a non-ionic, hydrophilic emulsifier for cosmetic creams and ointments. Do not consume. For external use only.
Formaldehyde is a colorless, flammable, strong-smelling chemical widely used by industry to make home building products. It is a colorless gas at room temperature, or available as a liquid called formalin. Formaldehyde is widely used to manufacture building materials and household products.
