Where was this, RB? I can only find umbrellas, and they don't taste so good.

Well you can guarantee that no one will dare speak up to oppose for fear of retribution and being branded as transphobic, sexist, or something else. No possibility of rationale debate on this one. Wonder what “she” knows about Hartlepool but hey I guess why let that get in the way!

Census update: yesterday the ONS conceded that its guidance on the census sex question was unlawful (see posts 29 & 31 for background). In other words, FPFW won their case that 'sex' is not 'an umbrella term' but what is recorded on birth certificate or GRC.
Embarrassing for ONS, as some 12m have already completed census returns, and presumably there would have been a fair number of self-IDs, throwing the stats out.
But with the ONS, the Cabinet Office, government legal department, NHS, EHRC already fallen to the lobbyists this won't be the end of it. The corporates, too: Twitter are now banning people who point out the correct legal position.

This is actually really useful - whatever people think personally, surely we'd never want to cause deliberate offence to someone.

If someone's takes offence for being mis-gendered then there are more serious issues they need to address with themselves.

I mean potentially - my point is just that surely we wouldn't want to willingly offend other people?

Unfortunately I think a few morons enjoy being as offensive as they can, luckily I believe they are a small minority.
I lived in Chelsea in the sixties so got to know many who frequented certain clubs or lived quietly in the shadows, at least they can now choose to be open about their sexuality. We might born in a certain physical way but for some reason our brains do not always agree, it is simply nature at its most confused.
On a lighter note years ago I had two female ducks that never laid an egg but were a definite 'couple' until a fox got them.

I always recall my mum being Irish
Always the Irish are made fun of
But usually for a laugh and my mum used to find it all funny and even join in .
But it's though a little less secure , who cannot cope so easily are the ones we need to look out for
That need us to be careful not to offend

Angst-ridden about your posts causing offence on gender or other sensitive issues? Well, probably not actually, though some members may like to run their posts through Microsoft Word's new sanitiser:
