Dawn Butler is responsible for Jeremy Corbyn. It was she who nominated him at the last minute to the leadership ballot paper, and followed up with something like, "Jeremy won't be getting my vote, but in the spirit of having as broad a debate as possible, I am nominating him". The rest, as they say, is history.

John McDonnell has ruled out having a Remain option on any final vote but the shadow Brexit Secretary thinks differently. Jezza has stated again that he will go with whatever Conference delegates vote for which almost certainly mean the party effectively supporting a second Referendum.

An interesting little number coming up next Monday. I'd imagine Mr E won't need to be there:

So far this is the most amusing/weird thing from the conference. The case of the disappearing 'teacher'!

The leadership demands all women short lists but not when it affects the leadership.

Loadsa EU flags outside. Loadsa 'Palestinian' flags inside. Sightings of Union Flags zero. It's all a bit like a Students Union in a former polytechnic.

Palestinian flags were being handed out today and joyfully waved at Conference but nothing for the popular front of Judea, sounds rather anti semitic to me. Not to worry, gender neutral lavatories will be discussed tomorrow.

Reading a speech that he may not have even written does not make a good leader, how one reacts to pressure does.

How enlightening. You need to explain that to Theresa - (cough, cough, waves hand stupidly in front of throat), nothing has changed, nothing has changed, a general election is not in the best interests of this country - May.

Labour has a long way to go to get into number 10-
why the leaders are wanting a general election baffles me they are no where near ready, norhave the support.
A lot of inward looking

I do not think a General Election would be a good idea until Brexit is settled, just think of the confusion that would create.

I like confusion, bring on a general election and a referendum on the same day.

Tory Conference next up and despite the internal divisions I expect them to close ranks and put on a united front which is something they are rather good at. No doubt the PM will give a robotic speech but get a decent ovation from the faithful.

I wonder if Charlie will attend.

I have felt for a while that it is better for Labour to wait in the wings, let the Tories self destruct over Brexit and then take up Government through an election that would be a coronation. To force an election now, and almost certainly end up with another hung Parliament wouldn't do anyone any good.
