This is the Town Council you're referring to, Keith?
If so, who cares? Unnecessary waste of taxpayers' money, IMHO. In recent years it has shown how easily it can be manipulated into a virtual fiefdom by those with an inclination to do so. Public accountability then becomes lost.
There must be other ways of organising civic events without having such a blatant waste of public money associated with it.

Hi Ray
My own personal opinion is that we have at least 1 Council to many
But I would like to see decision making as local as possible
Of course we sadly end up with maybe some cllrs with good intention
But others you have identified why they put up
Dover wasn't helped with its image with regards to the previous mayor where even my sister in law in Singapore got that story
And we do need cllrs willing to run councils not allow officers to
The 2 major parties will struggle to get voters out this time round and when you get safe seats for labour and turn outs of 10% that tells its own story
On top of that labour has also somehow managed to lose that seat in the past
I think we could see smaller parties or individual doing a lot better
Could even unseat a few
I will be glad to be out of it all in May I have better things to do with my spare time
We are a long way from any changes
So we are where we are

While in North Deal I've got a choice between an idiot Labour Councillor who voted against the new ALDI store or an idiot Conservative Councillor who voted against the new ALDI store! Whichever way I cast my vote 'stupid' wins.

So what made you decide not to stand as an independent Bob?

I have always voted in elections whatever they are for as that was how I was raised luckily I now have a postal vote or I might not bother with the local ones.
We end up with whichever party is the flavour of the month with those who go by party rather than the many other candidates who might be far better councillors.

I would encourage everyone to vote as the vote was so hard fought for.
Around castle /town ward
labour i s expecting to win but with unknown candidates
interesting leaflet was published in Folkestone, yet in the labour leaflet it stated they supported local jobs.
I think theres a chance the 2 main parties could lose
Wonder why D Hannant returned to the ward, does he realise(like collor has) that he torieswont win the seat.
2 interesting candidates have to be
Rebecca Sawbridge greens
Graham Wanstall Independent
both active in different ways for Dover
And if it's correct what people are saying not voting for the 2 major parties
maybe one or both of these 2 may win?

Keith
The leaflet was printed in Folkestone because one of the candidates owns the business that printed it.
Of the candidates I will vote for Graham Wanstall on the grounds of the work he did on various things locally before he got into politics and Chris Precious as he was the best Mayor by far of any since I moved here.

Certainly interesting Keith but a loose cannon and certainly not up to public service in a representative capacity.
I remember the very first demonstration here between the far left and right and she was colluding with people wearing face masks. I tried to ask the one nearest why he was doing so and she broke in and said it was to avoid repercussions!!

Well I'm sure they will get round to you
But of course with the national politics it's probably affecting them which shows by lack of. Candidates in election

While there are many who agree that the council chamber needs some 'new brooms' one wonders how many will vote for a candidate who looks as though she uses one for transport?

I'm fairly certain that Graham is not a Tory Brian and serves as an independent on DTC.

And I thought women were supposed to be the bitchy ones.
If the Captain had made a derisory comment about the Green Party I might have agreed.

Me thinks you know
G wanstall has clearly marked his nomination paper standing ad an independent in both the District and Town councils
