It`s in the genes.
So we needn't encourage the kids from deprived families or those with forensic histories into further education and training because it is obviously in the genes to be recidivist......? I don't mean to be difficult with Reg's posts, and mean no personal offence, but the persecutory tone and class/wealth obsession is beginning to jar.

#743, 'cash in hand' jobs by small tradesmen on your house and car are probably the most widespread form of tax evasion both in terms of the number of people on the fiddle, and the amount fiddled.

Reg, is it possible for you to be any more offensive? Your rants will not have one iota of an impact on people like Ecclestone who are supporting the F1 in Bahrain. No-one ever went far wrong appealing to peoples self interest - it works far better than shouting offence or appearing bigoted.

Yes Reg but what the odd job man gets away with is illegal tax evasion. What the fat cats practice is legal tax avoidance. I'm not making a moral judgment but a legal one. No authority on earth can stop people doing what is legal; if you don't like people taking advantage of legal opportunities to reduce tax, campaign for a simpler, fairer tax system with fewer loopholes and perhaps a tax-free allowance for work done 'informally', instead of pillorying those with wealth. That would lead to a fairer society and a bigger tax take.
Using the tax system as a tool for social engineering will always always backfire in one way or the other.

bern,ecclestone/f1 and politics are not connected, its a seperate issue.the rights and wrongs of it,is another story.i am not worried wether its held in barhain, north korea or any other country that has human rights issues, and besides its a step in the right direction as for getting those human rights as santions dont work as they should.

PETER;
I understand where your coming from but don't agree with you.
Whilst some of the elite tax avoidance is legal both the legal/illegal is it fair or just?
and does little to get people on side

And Reg, suppose Shi'a militants threatened to disrupt the British Grand Prix or the Olympics over Abu Qatada and Abu Hamza being held here and possibly deported to a grizzly fate, should we also cancel those events?

Legal/illegal?? Tom-ay-toe/tom-ah-toe.
Who makes the law and who is the law made for?
What would be said of a local driving through town in the company of someone brandishing a fire-arm? What if the gun was pointed at Howard or any of the other happy-snappers on here out with their cameras?
You may all cry-out for road blocks and house to house searches, but then again all might be simply hushed-up...

I am not asking you to change opinions Keith, God forbid, but disagreeing with Peters post is a bit like disagreeing if he says newsprint is black on white. It isn't a point that needs agreement or otherwise, just some facts.

no what you are saying is the almighty peter is correct and no one else is.
soz mate, if i disagree he and other posters will be told.
what we dont want is this forum to returnm to the very early dark days were the conservative party used the forum as a second tory web site, and no one dared to challenge.
Thankfully the forum is much more open now, and we have postings from all walks of life, and backgrounds, and its a healthier forum because of this.
Hopefully we can disagree which makes for a better forum.

#749 "That would lead to a fairer society and a bigger tax take"
That is what we all should be looking to achieve and I mean everyone.
At this time, that is not what is happening.
I have no problem with wealth but I do have a problem with greed and it is that greed that is leading us in the wrong direction.
The difference between the brickie's etc, working for cash and the wealthy using these loopholes, illegally, is that the first will be prosecuted, (rightly) and the other will negotiate his way out, by using his wealth(wrong).
I could Google this and get plenty of references to back this up but I have stopped using Google until they start paying tax in the UK.
