Fun Fact - With two running, the Lib Dems have a higher percentage of MPs in the leadership race than the Conservatives.

I don't think IDS would approve: '[each candidate] must also have the backing of 10% of the parliamentary party - currently, the party has 11 MPs'. So I make that less than 2 others.

With Steve Baker now considering, it'll be interesting to see if the ERG can get behind a single candidate and plan, or whether they split themselves. We only need Priti Patel to stand now and it'll send them into complete meltdown.

I think those going after the job must have some kind of death wish with the divided state of the party at the moment.
At least we now know who is hungry for that brief moment of power or is it simply to be in the limelight.

More evidence of the chameleon in the running. Will either of the 2 hypocrites care to remember this?

Listened to a fantastic interview on the Today programme this morning with Justine Greening MP, she talked loads of sense about a range of topics.
She took a very firm and reasoned swipe at the "no deal" wing of the Tory party but generously didnt name names...
Sadly she categorically ruled herself out of running for Conservative party leader

So much for my tips!
First Rory goes bonkers now Cleverley has pulled out of the race.

#409 I heard it too, Ross. She was extremely well received by the York students. One of the few remaining in the most incompetent government in my lifetime still capable of talking some sense.
#410 If you seriously believed, Cap'n, that Cleverley could have climbed the greasy pole then you are even more misguided than your posts tend to indicate.

He's no de Quincy for sure, but Gove's admission isn't something to be sniffed at. The emergence of various Tory confessions of drug-addled opium den visits, cocaine snorting parties and hashish extravaganzas goes some way to explaining the origin of the fantastical policies this ruling elite have forced on us. And, since what's sauce for the goose is also sauce for the gander, the stark injustices of neoliberalism are much improved when viewed through a cloud of ganja, I have been told.

So some contenders for the leadership of the Conservative party (and our next Prime Minister) decided some years back that the law of the land could be ignored. I guess I could overlook that (after all, one could argue that a number of the motoring offences are more serious); where I struggle is with contenders who voted against the Withdrawal Agreement and hence ignored the result of the Referendum of the electorate. Those who did both would not appear to have changed their spots.

Is there any correlation between how 'hard' the drugs taken were and how 'hard' the Brexit offered is?

One can see now why the supply of drugs in a 'No Deal' scenario was of such concern. However, taking drugs also affects people around you - like, for example, the editorial team of Private Eye, who must be rueing the fact that their front page can only accommodate one picture.

"Prison works. It ensures that we are protected from murderers, muggers and rapists, and it makes many who are tempted to commit crime think twice."
Discuss. (It has to beat 'Stuart England' and 'Health 1000 - present day' that are two of this year's exam questions.)

The same applies to the death penalty, in fact more so.

Well those killed clearly cant re-offend, but seems to have done nothing to reduce capital crimes in the USA
