We have always been told that any major EU decision would have to be unanimously agreed, not true here and no respect for national sovereignty.

The reality is they must all go back, or EU politicians move over and prepare for EU governments that will send them back.

Even the Germans are saying that economic "refugees" should be deported if I understood the reports earlier this morning.

Mrs Merkel's eyes lit up when she saw the Syrians with seemingly limitless funds wanting to enter the country. Looks plain to see that they are well educated and great fodder for the work market with the shortage of skilled labour locally and will keep wages down. The problem is she didn't think about the infrastructure to handle the situation and also the fact people from other countries that don't seem very wealthy have joined in the exodus. At the moment they are being housed in sports centres, disused warehouses etc. The Syrians will not put up with that for the long they are used to the good life back, unlike the poorer ones stuck in the refugee camps.

Problem is Howard only 20% of those being admitted are Syrian. She might be disappointed.

I alluded to that in line 4 Paul, the majority seem to be from the Balkans and East Africa. No doubt they will weed some out but I would think the ones that slip through will be quite happy living in hostels and getting hand outs unlike the Syrians. Mrs Merkel and others continue to criticise our response but our government has sent over a billion quid so far to the desperate people in the camps while the rest have sent nothing.

I whish charley boy would restrain the fool ,he's spending our cash like a drunken sailor .
We should send them all to the Russians for military training so they can ship them all back to fight for Assad's regime.

I can understand why France is taking action but it may well mean even more refugees heading for Europe.

Great news for those living in the squalid camps of Jordan and Lebanon. they will now be able to upload photos of their dinner.

Difficult to know whether this will help the refugee problem or make things worse.

Putin is doing his best to keep the regime in power by bombing all the rebel factions including ISIS

Putin is right. Better to have a tyrant in charge than leave a vacuum with no follow-up strategy. That lesson should have been learned from Iraq and Libya. But Vlad seems to have done his homework better than western leaders. If you leave a vacuum it is likely to be filled by extremists because Islam is all the various groups have in common.

Things won't change until Western countries stop deciding who should be in charge of third world countries, none of whom are better places to live after we have invaded and/or bombed them. I can remember Blue Barry talking about winning the hearts and minds of people in Afghanistan as if anybody welcomes an invading army, we certainly wouldn't. Afghanistan is now in more turmoil than before we stuck our noses in.

Russian actions are likely to wipe out ISIS altogether which is no bad thing but in the short term more refugees will leave and head for Europe. I don't understand why Russian fighter planes are entering Turkish airspace.
