Remind me how King Lear bows out. Isn't there a mad (Ted) Heath moment in there somewhere too?!

She was struck off as a nurse as the home office informed the nursing council she had no right to wok in the UK.

So your sister, who was born in Germany well after the Empire Windrush generation had finished coming here, has never quite got around to regularising her position in the UK over the past four plus decades (as 99% plus of commonwealth citizens have done post 1971 Immigration Act)
And exactly whose fault was that?

Well the regulations for the armed forces say any child born before 1982 to a crown servant on active duty is as born on British soil no matter where in the world they were born as long as it was a designated assignment by the government or crown.and anyone born in the UK before 1982 was British by birth .So am confused..u do not need to regulator your immigration status if you were born British.

A lot of citizens from EU member states will have been watching this unfold with interest and doubtless EU negotiators will raise the subject with their UK counterparts.

Captain you are on a looser with this, all major parties come out of this very badly and yours seem to be the worst.

Lear's a tragedy, but that's pure comedy, 'fantastically dressed with wild flowers.'

This whole issue may well turn out to be the tip of the iceberg as to how inhumane and intransigent the Home Office/Immigration service really is. The eventual fall out from this sorry episode may even further damage this government’s credibility.
I’m sure that the general public are mainly unaware of the actual devastation caused to many individuals, children and families by the ineptitude of this so called “service”. I’m the first person to argue for the need to have in place a robust check on the validity of immigrants etc., but unfortunately, in my book anyway, it’s currently an unfair and unjust system and one that needs to be urgently reviewed.
The “Windrush” people affected were no doubt simply seen as easy targets to get the numbers down.
The protocol for this would have stemmed from the top, so should heads roll, in my opinion yes!

I believe anyone who has not broken the law, lived, worked and contributed to this country for twenty years should automatically be given the right to stay regardless of their nationality.

Perhaps the blessed Theresa, who has obviously recently gone mad, could declare a yearly 'Windrush Day' where we could all spend the day metaphorically beating our selves up and generally apologising for both everything in general and nothing in particular. I suspect it would be very popular amongst the young.

This is what happens when public bodies are set targets - all common sense goes out of the window in pursuit of said target. We see it with NHS targets and generally, the three big operational departments of state - Home Office, DWP and HMRC.

Might I suggest that any of you walk into your local pub and see if, in spite of all the furore, you can find anyone who actually give a toss about what is a bit of a clerical cock-up over the so called Windrush generation.
Most people want as many illegals,over-stayers and workers-in-breach removed as quickly as possible. So, fortunately, do most MPs, even the lefties.

Oh Captain, my Captain, you are valiantly defending an inglorious position which your own party is no longer defending. This thread is about the Windrush Generation. Please don't insult the forumites by talking about illegal immigrants within the confines of the Windrush debate.

Quite.
BUT it is because both Labour and the Tories have been happy to play to the cheap seats when it suits them that we now have the legislation that's produced this disgrace, Your Grace.

WGS, you are preaching to the choir (which, to be fair, is my job).
