This comment, made by the former Chairman of DDC, sums up the situation in the town.
Mr Frohike finds it funny, I don't.

Never aspired to be the Leader. The outgoing Councillor was a nice young chap I thought he would have stuck the course. The trouble is New Councillors some make an impression and have staying power others just follow like sheep.I. Tendered to rock the boat.Mr Little you could have stood nice crowd of people in Aylesham. They were always nice to me.
DDC have spent time on Aylesham.Always remember it's not just Dover,it's the whole District.

Sue, why not go the whole hog, gender re-assignment and apply to join the Snargate Street mafia?

I don’t understand why we are having to pay for another election?
The democratic thing to do would have been to Rolle the job over to the next candidate with the biggest number of votes from the last election .

Had a quick shufti at the May 2015 results and the late lamented Tommy romped home with roughly 1700 votes, followed by Linda from Densole(not sure of his surname) came second with around 1300 then there were two UKIP coves with about 1300 between them so coming second doesn't really apply here.

Shows my interest in labour or this candidate but was just replying to howard
hopefully it will be the last by election
it is amusing that this by election in Aylesham caused by a labour candidate resigning
in the by election in Elms vale Maxton and priory labour was very critical of the tories/independents who by resigning couldn't stand the pass
funny how times change

Keith,
Perhaps we could dispense with elections and put the buggers in for life like in the House of Lords?
As Sue most sensibly put it 'Better the devil you know.and all that ,and an experienced Councillor.'
Every so often someone could go round the chamber and check if they were dead (rather than just turning up to supplement their pension and taking no part in the debate) whereupon we could randomly select someone from either Deal Welfare Club of the local Lodge to replace them
No actual opposition is needed as Labour tend to agree with whatever latest mad idea is,though they seem to have gone off the idea of a 'spa' at Whitfield since they have discovered that it is NOT a brand of supermarket catering for poor people.

Aren't there rules for standing in a area/ward/parish only a certain distance from where you live?
At 12 miles from Capel to Aylesham this makes Cllr Sansums objections even more relevant and important.
How can Mr Cowan hope to represent Aylesham or a person whilst living so far away, it beggars belief.
This is all about getting the party cronies in place and nothing to do with representing Aylesham or the people living there.
This may be the only opportunity the people of Aylesham get to meet Mr Cowan, even if he gets elected.

Whilst I fully agree that a candidate should live, work or run a business in the ward that they stand in Gordon as KCC Councillor done sterling work in saving the local bus route, I doubt there are many like him that know how to play the system and get things done, hopefully he will in Aylesham too.
We have one district councillor elected in May 2015 who has lived in the ward all his life and never shown any interest in the issues within.

Really must strongly disagree with you.
Cllr Cowan at KCC has a lot of additional roles and has to travel to Maidstone.
He is separately a Town Councillor representing Buckland.
Despite sorting a resolution to your bus problem no one could reasonably expect him to have time to address all the issues of Aylesham at the DDC.
It's a 25 mile round trip between Capel and Aylesham that is simply ridiculous.
This is a candidate for Labour not for Aylesham.
Politics not People again.
I'm sure Cllr Sansum will agree as it offends both of his well published concerns on candidates living in their ward and also candidates not being foisted on the electorate, like women candidates.

I have pressed Cllr Sansum on this issue, thus far he has declined to reply.
Party politics is the ruination of democracy, Labour vote en bloc at both DTC and DDC, there is no scope for individual opinion. That's a shame because I know several Labour councillors well and like them very much, I wish they would stand as independents.

on dtc I clearly agree that party politics should play no part and without doubt on dtc politics plays a big role but not in the interests of dover the elms vale maxton privory ward showed people from all political and non polit ical backgrounds were fed up with party politics and voted them out
