Officers from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) are carrying out an investigation following the discovery of approximately four million cigarettes hidden amongst empty crates which had arrived on a lorry from France at Dover Ferry Port.

UK Border Agency officers in Dover have charged a man from France with drug smuggling. Thierry Macel, 43, of Mance in France has been remanded in custody after appearing in Dover Magistrates court yesterday, 4 February 2010.

UK Border Agency officers in Dover have charged a man from Northern Ireland with drug smuggling. Nigel Donnolly, 42, of Cookstown, County Tyrone has been remanded in custody until he next appears at Dover Magistrates Court on 25 February.
