this was closed yesterday (Tuesday) due to vandalism, and dog fouling, it was in such a state, it had to be closed, there should be a spread in the paper this week about it, the vandals even cut through a gas cylinder that helps the gate shut slowly, so whoever done it went prepared.

Amazing how quickly things move on here, I had to go down to page 11 to find this.
Anyway, it's difficult to see really but the yobs have been breaking the branches off the trees.
Can nothing be left alone?

It makes me bloody mad to see this wanton waste and destruction of nature. I wish I could see some of them at it!

Went shopping last week and, despite the garden being locked, two gentlemen were sitting on a bench enjoying the sun with a bag full of cans beside them. Of course I did report it.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

Although I am not doubting it was vandals I did notice a broken branch after the strong winds a short while ago. I really cant see the point of the garden if it is not open to the public.
The rubbish bin as reported on here previously is still full.

Just curious - what was the point of a gate first place? The fence was too low to prevent ne'er-do-wells getting in anyway so would have been useless for security. Could the gate not be simply taken off and the lawn re-opened?

The bin was full to the top this lunchtime Brian, proves it is not big enough.
Phil, I have never been able to understand why there is a fence alongside the path and the bent bit of metal, sorry seat, a complete waste of money.

I suppose we just need to ask what the purpose is. If it is recreation the fence is just silly, if it is to look at the fence needs to be bigger.
BTW, if the bin is full it is at least being used by some people - that has to be progress.........!! Now we just need to get the damned thing emptied often enough.

Does anyone know who has the responsibility of emptying it ? If so, a word or two in their ear would have it emptied, surely.

The bench design was chosen to provide seating but not sleeping space. The bin is on a SITA contract. The fence is meant to prevent dogs, cyclists etc straying onto the grass.

howard, its just a case of leaning over the fence as its so close, just a matter of common sence and a little less h & s.

they could be accused of trespassing brian, they have to be very careful not to blot their copybook.
i would imagine that their contract would preclude them from collecting anything on private property.

This is bonkers, just lean over and empty the bin, or as in days gone by, climb over and pass the bin to your mate. Heaven Forbid, Common Sense, they don't do that, no NVQ held on that subject
