To cut a very long story short, from my point of view, I'd pose the following question: does the Chamber of Commerce of Dover have any future plans to plant new orchards and export apples from Kent's Garden of England around the world, and so-by create employment for Dovorians and a future revenue?

Alexander it wouldnt be within the remit of the Chamber of Commerce to do such, I wouldnt think so anyway. You are talking there about a Kent wide proposal which would go far beyond the very localised Chamber area of 'authority'. No doubt BarryW would know more but it seems unlikely. The Chamber is there to give a leg up to businesses in the town. Thats as I undertand it anyway.
Of course you are right in that Dovorians need jobs, but nobody has an idea how to provide them....alas!

I do Paul, but it's a longish game and I won't get the chance now anyway.
It should be working on the ground floor with the businesses and the Town's partners to create a Town where not only residents support it (at the moment more Dover people shop in other Towns than in Dover) but also visitors/tourists enjoy coming here too - and spread the word.
This is what DBS was all about, or at least what I tried to make it, but was told to stop all this work and concentrate on recruitment.
I wonder how many new members have been signed up since March 24th. ? Maybe the Chamber ought to question the Strategic Director about all this and the strategy taken; also what is DBS doing to move the Town forward and help businesses - after all that's it's remit.

Paul is correct Alexander. The Chamber is not an agricultural business.
The Chamber will continue its full range of important tasks amongst which are lobbying on behalf of and representing businesses in Dover, Deal, Sandwich and the 'hinterland'. Developing the role of Dover Business Support and progressing a range of projects to help re-vitalise businesses locally.
Got to know your apples eh Barry?

I think the core of the problem has gone now, Sid.

I hope your Granny Smith is in good health, Sid, it's going to be a long while before anyone has the last word on this one. If Cameron is exonerated, mud still sticks and if he were to return to the Chamber it would split the membership right down the middle.

Looks like you've put a stop to any further postings Peter.
