Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

12:339725Its reached my ear that Town Clerk Mike Webb has written a formal Letter of Complaint to the DDC about this incident with Cllr Sue Nicholas( I believe its been sent to forumite Paul Watkins, the Leader of the Council). The DTC are obviously unhappy with the incident and clearly feel that the Mayor's position was disrespected, which is not at all nice, as the Mayor ,Cllr Diane Smallwood, represents you and me the people of Dover at all these events.
It will be interesting to see if it will be necessary for the DDC to issue a formal apology.

12:379730Oh matron...!!!
Its a shame really cos Sue does work hard for Dover regardless of whether I share or don't share her political leanings.
Anyway as I originate from Coronation Streetland I love all gossip.
This incident reminds me of the showdown between Elsie (women of loose morals) Tanner and Ena (hairnet) Sharples.Classic stuff.

Marek, I'm sure I shouldn't be asking, but ... how far a parallel are you drawing between Elsie (and brackets) and Ena (and brackets) and our own good ladies in Dover's Consternation Street??

15:539739You would never catch me in a hairnet Marek ,more of an Elsie Tanner I think I once went out with an americain boyfriend I.seem to recall Elsie married a GI ??
Just to set the record right I was not on DDC duty was not wearing a DDC badge ,I was hopefully in my own private space surely allowed sometimes /.Seems the only time one can truly relax is once the door closes and even then phone calls and emails .I have informed the Chief Excutive of this incident .
Perhaps this matter can now be closed as Marek says I do work for the Community ,next local event the village bazaar .I shall not be in Town for the Dover event this weekend village bazaar .My loyalty is always to River

that was great television, ena and elsie at opposite ends of the street, like in a western gunfight, slagging each other off.
in the background, the salvation army band was playing in another street as background music.
susan
i do appreciate your loyalty to river, is that where you have taken all the towns seats and litter bins to.
they do seem to very poor up there.

20:359756Sue I have to ask the obvious question at this point...if your loyalty is always to River why are you are Cabinet member for the Dover District ?
Wouldnt it be more effective to remain the member for River only rather than have the wider remit, as by accepting that wider remit/role you guarantee to represent all of us here in Dover, throughout the entire area.

22:159759Paul i know you are being fed information however just to set the record straight .All week im a cabinet member for all of the district on Housing matters, and at the weekend i show loyalty to the people who voted for me .I put in over three days a week on my cabinet post .May i ask do you see Cllr Kenton Cllr Kit Smith Cllr Heath ,Cllr Bartlett supporting events in Dover .I think not .Besides being cabinet members we have to support our own community in my case Alkham and River .I support Dover tenants and Deal ,also Sandwich ,Ayleshasm in fact all 4,700 odd of them ,Cllr Collor is a cabinet member but he is also the district member for Castle so he will devote time to Dover .
Get your facts right .

does this mean that you will bring back all the seats and bins that you half inched?
this is much more important to the average dovorian than a pack of upset brownies.

23:219764i must admit dave, what a great panto it would make.
our susan playing the wicked witch chasing little girls around, trying to get them back to the gingerbread house, where she could "dispose" of them.
the high point could be when she comes to the front of the stage looking for the enemy
the audience shout behind you!!
she turns around and sees the council cabinet all standing there with flickknives.

21:459834Are all the councillors Sue has trashed in her post supposed to represent Dover? Is Sue suggesting that because someone doesn't do something, someone who DOES do soething they should (and get paid to do) needs to be applauded and lauded? Once again I am condfused by what Sue has tried to achieve with her post.........
