I can't remember the last time I saw anyone fish from the main beach, only the Shakespeare part.

It has been announced that the Dover Music Festival will take place on Saturday 26th August this year, highlighting a variety of musical acts during the day and evening. Celebrating its fifth year, the Port of Dover Community Regatta will follow on Sunday 27 August 2017, along Dover’s award-winning esplanade.

And for once a proper award from a reputable organisation (Royal Institute of British Architects RIBA 2011 Awards)!

Slightly off topic here. Aerial shots over the Outer Harbour and southern breakwater yesterday.
Flight over the outer harbour - difficult to capture clearly but worth a punt.
Hope the Coastguard Helicopter was just on a training excercise. Only saw the winchman up and down both sides of the breakwater.

Patrick, this was posted yesterday on the Coastguard Facebook page ........."***CALLOUT** Job 18/2017 - We were paged at 1330 hrs today to assist Deal and Langdon teams in a search for a kayaker but on arrival at the station that incident had been resolved and we were re-tasked to provide assistance to a diver coming in to Dover Marina.
We met the boat and assisted the diver off and handed them over for medical assessment. Thank you Dover RNLI Lifeboat Station for your assistance and use of your facilities."

Fishing from the beach inside the harbour has been prohibited for quite a long time. I will ask and find out exactly how long, but I am pretty sure that it has been for at least 7 yrs.

As promised, I've asked about fishing.
Fishing was prohibited from the beach inside the harbour in the 1980s.

Bit of a drab day for taking shots of the ongoing work at DWDR site but it at least shows the state of play as of today - 3rd May 2017. Photographs taken from St Martin's Battery, South Military Road.

Still no decision from the MMO regarding dredging of the sands, with work seemingly going along well at what stage would lack of aggregate bring things to a halt?

I would hazzard a guess.

just a nice view of Wellington Dock, yacht moorings and the swing bridge over the present lock. The cruise liner in the background is the AIDAsol.

Just found this archived photo I took way back in 2008. Seems like an age ago now. There were even three radio masts at that time (originally there were four I believe, now two).
They must have known the pier was next to get the chop.

Tug manoeuvres a piling barge into position in the outer harbour today (5 June) affording a first class seafront view to the workmen on board. Part of the Dover Western Docks Revival (DWDR) scheme to build a new cargo terminal and marina.
Meanwhile Dover Lifeboat launched on service yesterday afternoon encountering choppy seas as it left the Western Entrance.
