25 quid is actually quite cheap for a festival spread over 3 days. A low level race meeting would charge not much less than that for an afternoon and patrons would be searched to see if food and drink was being "smuggled" in.

Chillifarm fest& vw show, camping and parking £20. Hereford down on the farm fest camping parking and 2 stages £30, so price point is spot on but value for money is debatable.

Chilli Farm is £20 for a day ticket. I know because I have day tickets for the Saturday. My husband refuses to camp so we are going for the day and will return to Victoria Park to sleep in our proper bed!

Oh dear! I don't feel great about having bought mine at the Tourist Info in the Market Square a couple of weeks ago for £20 each, but then £20 is not such a vast fortune.....

I dont know why the music festival has had to take the whole of Pencester gardens blocking off the play park and skate park with no walkway past.Lots of very unhappy kids that cannot use those facilities now and many angry residents. Why did they have to block off the whole park? The fair doesnt block it all off when they come and they have far more stuff than this.

I would suggest that the whole park is needed to make the event feasible. It's not the biggest of spaces and once you have a bar and food stalls etc, I don't think using the whole park is unreasonable.
I'm unable to make the event but think that such things are an amazing achievement and asset to the town socially. I'm also sure that the town itself will have an added vibrancy this weekend, something that will benefit shops, bars and eateries too...surely outweighing the temporary loss of the skatepark and play area?
I haven't posted here for a while but really feel that people should get behind such events! I know some of the people organising the event and can honestly say that you would be hard pushed to find more driven individuals that want good things to happen in our town. The ticket prices are representative of the fact that this is not a money making exercise and that this about getting families into the town to enjoy some quality music, without breaking the bank.
As I say, I am unable to make the event but think that everyone should try and take full advantage of the festival and enjoy it over this glorious weekend.

Well said DTI. I hope the festival is a huge success. The disruption is for just one weekend.

The reason that there is such an outcry on social media over the weekend closure is that people are convinced that it is a money making event for the organisers, despite it not breaking even last year.

I do support the idea of the festival but am not sure about Pencester being the correct site in the future because of the obvious inconvenience it seems to have caused.
I have not visited Facebook yet but I bet there will be complaints about the noise as I could hear it in the distance and I am in Salisbury Road.

I fully support this event, but again cannot see the reason for shutting off the side walkway and play parks,as said the funfair can manage ok and they have far more equipment than an event such as this. Are the organisers worried that someone might catch a brief glimpse of it for free whilst on a swing or in mid air whilst performing a trick on a skateboard?

I have been in Town this afternoon, and I was shocked to see all the security fencing .I thought they would use fencing like they have for the Fair .I agree was it necessary to block off the paths .I saw several people with shopping looking somewhat dismayed .My friend lives in Pencester Court and is looking at green fencing and the noise is giving her a headache.
Pencester is not the venue for three days.

I don't see noise as a big issue as the latest it goes on for is 2230 hours and is only for 3 days, the fair runs for 9 days. People who live in Adrian Street have had their lives blighted for years now by the customers of Club Karma and no amount of complaints to the council have brought no relief. The diversion for pedestrians is hardly very far for all but the most immobile.

Swings an d roundabouts Sue, residents in Stembrook wake up every morning to an idyllic view of Pencester Gardens despite living in the town centre. Most events are purely day time and pack up around 4 pm, only 3 maybe 4 times a year is there loud music in the evenings and finishes before bed time anyway not like some parts of town where there is rowdy behaviour outside takeaways after the pubs close.

As well as swings and roundabouts it's also horses for courses. When I was involved with Hellfire Corner Weekend and playing the likes of Glen Miller et al I was often asked by the residents of Stembrook to "make it louder mate"!
Terry
ps By et al I mean both "and others" and Al Bowlly"!

Was in town earlier and saw the fence that Brian refers to. It appears that unless it had been erected people were likely to vault the bridge and assuming they didn't injure themselves badly on landing would then wade through to the event soaking wet and covered in mud hoping that nobody would notice!!
