#330...........DDC Scrutiny Committee are still awaiting (05/11/13) a reply from CO&G.. they've also contacted Cuadrilla, who's only response is that they have no plans for E. Kent.
To date , despite best efforts no ' Unconventional Oil and Gas' 'Experts' have been found to address the Scrutiny Committee
Unconventional Gas requires High Pressure High Volume Hydrological Fracturing in 10% to 40% of the horizontal drilling operations ( to access and harvest the Tight Gas)
The Test Bore License includes horizontal as well as vertical drilling.
The License granted in 2011 , for a Test Bore Hole in Woodnesboro/ Sandwich is for CBM and Shale .. ergo, Fracking will take place.

Hey Tom Austin,
I know there are other solution to fracking and how to get fuel.
Surprise surprise ...it all gets blocked from the EU !!
There was a dutch and a scandinavian Inventor about new fuel for future. Those two who had patents have been bought my automobile industries and just been swept under the carpet. Simply they aren interested.
One more reason to be agains fracking !!

Yo! Heike List,
Careful now, bigging-up the EU for being business friendly could come back to bite you.
What a pity that no Scandinavian Government was far sighted enough to bag those patents for themselves.
The real problem here (again) is more to do with this...

whatever our views on this we are safe in the knowledge that we will not have to listen to a chorus of the "fracking song" in future.

#344......... No, not good news for East Kent.
Because of the appalling ignorance exhibited by Woodnesboro Parish Council and Sandwich Town Council ( as Consul tees) CO&G hold a License to drill a Test Bore Hole on the outskirts of Sandwich. While this remains , the block of 4 areas as outlined in the KCC map remain a viable proposition. My guess is that CO&G will now sell the block on to the highest bidder (as they would have done anyway, not being 'players in the business of fracking merely a n exploratory set up)

I breathe a sigh of relief ....temporarily
So they have gone away for now to gather further info. It astounds me that their application was not adequate enough in the first place, even after meeting in person with the EA and being told exactly what they needed to provide. It doesn't feel me with confidence that they actually know what they are doing.
I do hope that the scrutiny meeting still goes ahead on Monday. Guston has 3 representatives that will be addressing DDC on our parish's concerns over borehole drilling and fracking in kent and how we would like a policy put in place to address the key issues much like other areas of the UK.
I'm staying vigilant however for Guston and will be looking over our shoulder. I am anticipating the bell of Round 2 to be rung in the not too distant future.....Shepherdswell & Tilmanstone get ready to stand by your beds

I have already asked if the meeting(s) is/are still going ahead.
I would guess they will be, because if COAG gather further information, they'll submit new plans and local community concerns will be the same.

Tracy, you can be absolutely sure that Round 2 will happen. under normal circumstances it will not cost them extra planning fees to re-submit providing they comply within the time frame.
Something tells me they may just have tested the water [excuse that one] to judge what the level of opposition and the local arguments [issues] would be.
Next time they'll mean business.
False dawns & all that !!
Keep in contact.

Thanks for the info, but I'm sure I'm not the only one to wonder what you're interest is in this and how you get your information.

#355: Whilst I don't really understand why you should want to know what my" interest in this is" I am, (like most on here I assume) a concerned Local Resident.
As for my info re the Scrutiny Committee.. one merely needs to email Rebecca Brough, the Committee Clerk , and ask!

Cameron attacks EU over threat to fracking
New EU laws could kill off investment in fracking at a "critical and early stage", David Cameron warned Brussels in an attempt to protect British industry from red tape.
In a letter to José Manuel Barroso, president of the European Commission, the Prime Minister argued that long delays and uncertainty caused by new legislation were a "major case for concern"
