When....if....the people of Kent fully comprehend that Kent`s Water Supply will be lost,
perpetuity, if drilling takes place through our Aquifer it will be a major election issue.
Politicians lack of knowledge produces ill-conceived policies.
EG.....recent correspondence ......
I have had ongoing correspondence with UKIP's Roger Helmer, to whom Nigel Farage referred me, so I assume he's their Energy Spokesperson or the closest they have to one. His last communication said this:
Dear Patricia,
Thank you for writing, but I think you're just wrong. For example fracking in the UK, far from using "highly toxic chemicals". uses primarily water and sand, plus a handful of surfactants and other common chemicals that you would find around the house in toiletries and detergents.
In the US, where fracking is well developed with ten thousand wells drilled, the water usage is less than that used to water golf courses. Let's keep a sense of proportion here. I don't know where your statistics come from, but the truth is that the incidence of water contamination from fracking is close to zero. It is one of the cleanest and safest energy extraction technologies we know of.
In spreading this false and damaging propaganda you are doing a huge disservice to our country, our economy, and the prospects of future generations. This country desperately needs secure and affordable energy. Please don't stand in the way of it.
Best regards.

I have written back to him and told him the truth about the golf course water usage and his other misapprehensions as related in Refracktion's excellent Myth Busting section. Not unsurprisingly, I haven't heard back from him since.
Best

Hi Julie,
I hope you get further with UKIP than I did! I wrote to Nigel Farage re his party's stance on fracking and possible adverse effect on the aquifer (especially since Folkestone is now in his neck of the woods) and what did he say? Nothing! Not even a reply. If he does that to all people who write to him he doesn't deserve to stand any chance in an election.
Best wishes
Tony
