My Gawd!!!!
That is a turn up for the books. Thats quite a victory to pull off as the margin of victory for Gordon Cowan and Bill Newman was quite big last time...well I never! Nigel is having a good month. not only was he selected as local Tory Chairman, he has now reached the dizzy heights of the Kent County Council.
Gordon on the other hand is not having a good month at all, quite the opposite. He was let down badly over the Mayor thing and now this.
I dont think its anything personal, its just that people are sick of Gordon Brown!

Sorry Howard the KCC website is down and I am frustrated in getting the figures. I only know because of a quick phone call from the hero of the hour himself. I will keep trying.

Apparently Nigel has 1000 majority.

Wow - if that is so then it is simply incredible. We thought it might be tight but were in with a chance, if around 1000 it is far better than expected. Still cant get on to KCC website, must complain to my County member.

Barry , I think you'll find there is only one Labour member left in Kent at Ramsgate and he shares the Division with a Conservative.

Steve Manion has won so Labour have lost all their seats in Dover District, a complete wipe out.
Right now there are only two Labour Councillors (one Ramsgate and the other Northfleet) both split two member Wards where we captured one seat narrowly missing the second.
Six Libdems
One Independent
73 Conservative
Two seats yet to declare, Romney Marsh and Folkestone West.

congratulations to nigel, who i am sure will do a great job
sorry to see gordon go.
looking at the vote, it seems that the lib dems made some inroads.
i haven;t looked up the last election results, the website is down.
i suppose with mike eddy losing his seat it will mean that there will be less demand for sandwiches at these meetings.

I just want to add my tribute to Bill Newman. I have known him many years now and he would have taken his defeat with great dignity. He has lost in a democratic contest and there no no shame in that, certainly not for someone who has always championed free and open elections.

Thanks for all your comments and very many thanks to all those wonderful people who helped in many ways giving their valuable time - it is greatly appreciated.
I too would like to pay tribute to Bill Newman who has played an outstanding roll for many years - I said to Bill, and indeed Terry Birkett who lost his Deal seat, after the results were announced, that I was sorry and wished them both well for the future.
Now the work starts - already there is a pile of forms from KCC to fill in and a lengthy list of meetings and inductions in Maidstone to get to grips with but I won't be needing a second home - tee hee.
For those of you who know my mother, she is over the moon with the results and had a tear with me over the phone on Thursday as it is the first election campaign that she has not been able to help me with due to her serious illness last year that has made her slow up as many of you will know.
I would publically like to thanks all those who helped with the campaing in any way - they know who they are without me naming them and the crew in the Conservative Office who have worked their butts off getting all the literature printed, folded and prepared for distribution.
In fact the Conservatives now hold all seven seats at Kent County Council in the Dover District Council area with Julie Rook and Kit Smith taking Deal & Walmer, 'Aussie Steve' (remember him from the old forum days) Manion winning the Dover North seat while Leyland Ridings (Sandwich) and Bryan Cope (Dover West) held their seats, so we intend to work closely with Paul Watkins and the others at Whitfield to see how best we can all work together to move Dover forward
Now, we look to the biggy when Gordon calls it - we are ready to get Charlie Elphicke into Westminster.
