there was no-one there when i voted this morning sheila, left my card on the table inside the door.

Yes, I thought it odd that there were no "lurkers" there.
I asked the ladies at the desks what the turnout was like. "It got busy in the last hour" they said, "We had 56 in". Wow, less than one a minute in the busy period.
Well, we did our bit, let's see how it pans out.

Busy most of the day at River .I did two stints at telling .The second one between 5.00pm and 6.00pm well over 100and some i just could not get the numbers .
Well, I went out and voted tonight. On that Euro vote form I was astounded by the choice! I can't remember the last time I saw so many parties listed on a voting form. We had the BNP Bovver Boys Party, the Christian Jesus Bible Bashing Party, some Jury Something-or-other Party, the Sock Puppets Party, and goodness knows what else alongside all the traditional parties. The voting form was enormous! I was bewildered!!
Considering so many Brits seem at odds with our membership in Europe I was baffled by the sheer volume of parties wanting to represent us!
Don't forget ROMAN PARTY AVE where there was just one person listed. Ballot paper was so big ya had to fold it countless times to get it in the box. I did see you there Rick but ya didn't see me

I did some telling yesterday and was surprised that there were no tellers from the Labour or Lib-Dem parties.
Just two people refused to give their number, so assume they were the two Labour voters !

From Charlie Elphicke:
Tories won all four Canterbury seats. Labour beaten into fourth place in every seat, behind Greens. (Conhome)

Wrong what about Canterbury City South West! Or don't we count that in the 5 Canterbury seats

I suspect that was posted before the one the LibDems held.
So far Labour have lost 6 seats, 5 to Tories and the other to an Independent. They are typicaly suffering a 20% plus swing against them.
No Conservative losses.
in the short time since posting that Labour have lost one more seat to the Conservatives.....

In Staffordshire Labour have lost 30 of their 32 seats on the Council.
From what I can see the scale of the defeat they are suffering is unprecedented. Can they ever recover? i sincerely hope not.

First bit of good local news:
Julie Rook and Kit Smith are elected to KCC for Deal. Two gains from Labour.

To date Labour have lost 14 of their 16 seats across Kent

Currently 5 Liberals , 1 Independent, 1 Labour in the KCC wipeout. I have great sympathy for my old friend Bill Newman and even have a good working relationship with Gordon Cowan. Whoever wins or loses their seats deserves our respect for putting themselves forward for public service.
But my greatest pleasure goes to my old friend Nigel, who gives his ALL. Well done Roger F.
