I am sure the planning officers will do there job as they did previously - its the planning committee that I worry about

I don't know whether to feel heartened or dismayed by your comments, Ross and Sue. I have no real experience of the planning process at all whereas you must possess a collective wealth between you.
I will, however, continue to fight this ludicrous attempt by speculators to profit from our countryside tooth and nail.

No strange comments from me, Brian. As I said at the recent meeting, I am an unashamed nimby on this one.
And the answer to your question is "houses yes but in the right place".

I have no faith in DDC planning process. Aycliffe residents opposed a building of a hostel in a residential area and the cutting down of TPO trees.. you know the rest of the story.. we were totally ignored..

Worth a look at the Kent growth, environment and transport document put on the planning application yesterday, the money being asked of the developer might dampen their enthusiasm a bit.

All of a sudden much support is coming in for the development from groups in the tourism sector, the proposed hotel being the answer to a lot of their problems.

I forgot to mention that China Gateway International Ltd were subject to a winding-up petition by HMRC which was held on January 8th. I have no idea whether the company opposed it or not. From my perspective this is potentially very good news indeed.
If anyone has heard any further information then I would love to know (hint to a certain relative of a previous director).

It would be great to develop that site in a sympathetic but modern way, keeping the fantastic history alive. I've been on the site many times in the past and it's really amazing, the staircase in the officers mess is one example. Let's hope something comes of it

Given that much of the site is a scheduled monument & what isn't is listed means it is a hugely expensive challenge to make something of the site.
Good luck to TechFort Group Ltd (whose business is buying & selling properties) but I have my doubts given the following for the 5 active companies Mr De Min is involved in:
TechFort Group Ltd - 11967026 - accounts filed to 30/4/20 with Net Worth £(234,974)
De Min Holdings Ltd - 11966934 - accounts filed to 30/4/21 with Net Worth £(95,757)
Dover Citadel Ltd - 12416801 - accounts filed to 31/1/21 with Net Worth £124,838
De Min Capital Ltd - 12515381 - accounts filed to 31/3/21 with Net Worth £100,000
Dover Citadel Holdings Ltd - 12517084 - accounts filed to 31/3/21 with Net Worth of £100,000
so the combined Net Worth of his 5 companies is a deficit of £5,893
The DoJ had marketed the site at a price of £2.9m so whichever one of his companies he used to purchase it is likely to have had to have taken out fairly hefty borrowings just for the acquisition before he even looks at renovation/restoration and conversion costs.
Is this another case of "smoke & mirrors" & talking a good talk like China Gateway or will De Min actually deliver?
