Sue you don't help yourself, you don't research your subject, the priory forum/cllrs/ locals have all been campaigning for the return of the clarendon play area.
So before you sound off about how wonderful things you done in River iv attended meeting after meeting on this very issue, and since this time(im now just a pleb!) would like to know if this money is no longer in the pot for the priory play area where was it spent?

i think that people around the clarendon area have lost heart now.
the issue started when i move here over 6 years ago.
most have forgotten about the money that was on offer, very convenient for our betters.
an old political trick, keep quiet for a while and the problem will go away.

It's not true to say that you have been campaigning for the return of the Clarendon Play Area for six years, it's not even six years since it had the equipment taken away - and why was it taken away, no one questions that do they ?
There have been many searches and attempts to find an alterrnative play-area as many people (residents) have said that the Clarendon play area is not appropriate, not a good site - it's out of site and because of the topography of the area, it is easy for some nasty person to sneak in there from the heights.
It's also been said that part of the problem before, was that there were all sorts of trouble there from older teenagers, syringes, condoms and litter of all sorts.
You can't please all the people all the time and I'm sure that there must be as many parents for it as against it.
I've asked many times, you (the residents) find an area and it will be looked at, every time we've come up with one, you've shouted it down.
When you ask where has the money gone, what money are you all referring to ? Section 106 money or some other ?

09:1013985Roger, You know what funds we are talking about you was at some of the meetings yourself, there is no big deal about this just say wjhere the funding is at was put by for the new play area in the lower part OF THE WARD, as you well know that was put there by the new D/ments, I think nothing was underhanded, AND THERE ARE AREA that can be made flat and turn into a safe play area please look at the kind of housing down there alot of flats which the council put there and town house.,s with very small back gardens and no frontsthey go into a road,in the top end of the ward you have big gardens +playing areas and area you can play football E,T,C, in does not take much working out does it.
If I was still a cllr of that ward take it from me. I would be up the council office each day i was not working to try and push this area along but as it is i CAN NOT DO MORE THAN write on the forum hoping that it is taken up again by a cllr in that ward.
I remain yours faithfully vic MATCHAM

09:3613987Vic I do find you amusing. You are demanding to know answers, and not getting what you deem as an honest reply.
I remember not so very long ago, people wanted questions answered from your good self, which you chose not to answer.
Guess you know how it feels now.
I think the real issue here is that Keith and others would like to know what happened to the funding which was being set aside for a new play area. I honestly do not think that the answer will be found on this forum. I would suggest that Priory forum, and it's local councillors, aswell as residents write to DDC directly asking for the info under the freedom of information act. This way you will get the answer to the questions you rightly raise.
The area does need a play area of it's own, but the solution to getting it isn't easy. Wish I had the answer.

10:0313990Mandie.
You are right to on that one, all I am doing is asking,I do have an interest in this as I was asking about the funding when I was a cllr on that ward as I put in my other posting I do not think that some thing was done underhanded, but as you put it,down to the cllrs and familys that live there.

17:3714017Paulw;
intresting you had to set up meeting with Roger!
Roger
If your going to write things on here get your facts right!!!!
I have never opposed any new proposed play area in priory, so to suggest it roger is a lie!
In fact i have been involved in talks trying to find sites.
Sad that still we are waiting for action.
I'm not talking just about 106 planning monies, others have been quoted to be availible for a play area if my memory is correct is was upwards of £100,000
but as Paulw is on here maybe he can explain fully since the play area was taken away or since his involvement what monies have been set aside, by whom, and if they are stll abvailable?
ta
Im sure we don't have to go through th freddom of information route?
but if pushed i will
I would rather give informed paulw the chance to give the info

20:11140365 pages on this subject, emotions seem to be running high, not surprisingly.
seems like a good idea for a meeting to be arranged with the district councillors, priory forum, keith(as he was active in
both priory forum and the district council during most of this time), the fuhrer, if he feels that he can arbitrate fully and last but not least, our paul with his box brownie to make it interesting to the general dover public.

08:4814078Keith, you opposed the idea of a small area of the allotment sites between Westbury Road and Longfield Road - all the Labour people objected to it and from where I'm standing promoted the idea of turning it down, to the local residents.
As soon as the idea was put foward, you kept saying no, no no.
It would have been ideal to take about 3 or 4 allotment spaces from the 28 or so that are there; they were in between gardens so would have been ideally safe for children - the only sound to the house owners would have been the sound of children laughing and enjoying themselves; there's already a playground at the back of the CAWCA hall, so the principle of children playing is not new.
And just to be pedantic, the (Clarendon) play area wasn't taken away, the area is still there, it's just that through lack of investment by the previous (Labour) administration, the play equipment had to be taken away as it was deemed unsafe by the Health and Safety people - not by nasty conservative people.
Vic - I've already said on here the development money can only have come from two sites -Webbs and the Mildmay; one amount of (section 106) money was I believe £75,000, I don't know the value put on the other and as stated I don't know if the planning department actually claimed that money from the developers - if they did, then it's still there, if they didn't, then it's lost - and that is not my fault.

i must congratulate you here.
i never thought that a play area could ever be a party political football.
who are these evil labour people that will not go along with you?

00:2314206Howard - sarcasm is not necessary here - I didn't make play areas a political football, Keith did.
No one mentioned evil Labour people, but it's irrelevant now, the allotments have been handed over to DTC for five years.
If anyone knows of any spare ground in the Priory area that can be used for a play area, let us know.
Roger
