09:2213029Good news for young people with disabilities.
Work will begin tomorrow at the Elms Vale Play Area to install a wheelchair accessible roundabout and accessible multiplay unit with wide slide.
The equipment will be supplied and fitted by Wicksteed Playscapes. Installation should be completed within two weeks, unless the weather conditions deteriorate substantially.
The entire play area will be enclosed with Heras fencing during these works.
Not sure how many use play areas in this weather, but it's certainly good news for those who want to play but until recently, haven't been able to.

13:5713089Indeed, this is great news for youngsters with disabilties
On a different tack but within the same theme, I did see a news item on TV recently which showed a local council (I think it may have been Eastbourne) with an excercise/playpark for the older generation. They were thoroughly enjoying themselves, getting some much needed excercise and with the social and fun element there was lots of 'community spirit'.
Any chance they could stretch the budget so we can have one in Dover? (I'm always tempted to have a go on the swings and roundabouts, but of course its not allowed)

20:2113119Brian , why not the Goodwin's Sands. You swim to it first, as part of the Governments free swimming offer for the third generation. The litter & detritus are cleared by tidal flows & you don't need to stay long. Stop off at the new Deal Pier cafe on the way back.No passports needed. What's more it's pretty exclusive, keeps away the younger element, many get concerned about on the Forum.
