10:0913787Easy answer Freedom of information or a question at Full Council. On the forums you get posters debating this that and another but in all my years on the council I can count on one hand the number of times someone has asked a Question at Full Council
Perhaps its easier to sit at a computer than to attend a meeting.Councillors who post give you answers and indeed Cllr Watkins posts on here .He has also invited people to meet with him ,but its so much easier is it not on a cold wet morning to type out postings..

11:4913799When River Rec was about to be sold off we formed an action group .Many people wrote into to the council I think I have 100 copies somewhere in my loft .We made placards ,people went to the council offices .I and my former collegue raised the issuie at every optune moment even if it wasnt on the agenda .River rec was not sold and is now run by the Parish Council .My collegue died not long after I dont think the stress helped .
I dont see peole from Clarendon forming an action group??

11:5113800If the lowly peasants dont go to the councils then the councillors should come to the peasants.ie. more of them should communicate with the Forum.

13:3713813I am sure I have refected before about a meeting I attended - a long time ago, admittedly, but I work long hours and attending meetings at the local council is not always an option for me which is why I appreciate alternative forums and methods of communication and become a little annoyed when they are dismissed as not challenging enough to prove my committment! - and the meeting was a shambles, councillors were hyper-defensive, and us proles were belittled if we did not understand the "protocols" that had to be followed in the incredibly important council meetings and just wanted to talk, courteously and in an adult manner.

16:5013843Actually you can Vic. Paul Watkins will happily make appointments to see anyone with concerns (you might not always like or agree with the answers but he is prepared to give his time and opinions), you can write to the councils and ask for your question to be raised at full council meetings (you have to write directly to them and not just hope they will read postings on the forums) and/or you can attend the council meetings.
Look at me defending DDC, I think I will go and lie down in a darkened room for a while.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

two points here, the real issues at council are discussed in secret at cabinet level.
secondly, i can assure you that a great number of council officers read this and other forums.
