04:526052Good - thank you sue for the official comment - knew that would bring a response! yes a car park instead of housing would be cost effective - then send the new needed accommodation to whitfield where we dont want more.
Yes guys the idea is to demolish existing accommodation to provide a car park away from the new clinic ( sorry Part time Hospital )!!

09:256056Come on Howard surely your pals From St Monicas keep you in the picture.William Muge And Snelgrove Houes are situated just off Godwyne Road .These are sheltered schemes and house Dover District tenants. They are not fit for purpose and a decision was made to close them .Currently tenants are being rehoused and DDC will have two derilict buildings .Now who buys them I donot know as stated a Housing Association could try to refurbish them as they can get funding A property developer who knows .

12:226061"Wait and see" isn't good enough when it comes to social planning - may I see the Project plan? Who are the project managers? Which RSLs or HAs have been approached? How involvced have the tenants been in developing the outcome for their own re-homing?

13:516062Bern you can find most of this information in Council minutes .The District tenants group were consulted and all tenants who were to be moved fully consulted .We are currently working on An Older Persons Stratergy .We have held open forums on this .We work very closely with Housing associations and RSLs We held a scutiny review on our Sheltered stock in 2006 .We held a very lenghty Stock Ooptions appraisal with our our tenants lasted over a year when the tenants voted not to go to a vote ,they prefered to remain with DDC At that time it was known our HRA would not be sustainable .There are many providers out there who are willing to house ederly tenants .Roly Eckhoff is part of a PFI sxcheme and should be completed next year as an Extra Care scheme.Bede and Dunstan at Deal is due to be sold .Currently many people do not wish to go into sheltered schemes preffering to remain in their homes suitably adapted .These were findings from our reviews .We also found most people require two bedrooms .Very few of our schemes have two beds and the ones we are closing most were bedsits ,sharing toilet and bath facilities .

14:046065Cool result then! If facilities to which people are moved are an improvement on what they are moving from, job done! I have to say I have been part of consultations that have been paper excercises ( not proud of it, it comes with the job). But the end result, even with technical consultation, has always been an better deal for tenants/service users/workforce - it's just that sometimes it is difficult for them top see it through the fog of fear-of-change. As you have rightly pointed out, keeping the communication open and free has always been the key.

if the consultation is anything like the one the closure of play areas strategy god help us,
in that the consultants couldnt even name some play areas in the correct wards, so wot hope we got.
whilst on the subject of play areas it was funny at recent sports council meeting i questioned the tory cllr on the play area closure plan his reply was im not aware there is a plan to close play area
so wot cloud is he on?
when i asked the council officer he said yes there is a plan to close play areas
bit worried our leading reps in sport are not keeping abreast of things like this

17:146091And, while this has been interesting, the question on the placing of car parking "on the opposite side of Maison Dieu Road" has still not been answered.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

09:576118An appropriate name 'The Ark'for a public meeting to discuss the future health care of Dover and its environs and population.
Moses last hope of saving mankind from the evil high tide that sweeps over Dover far too often.

10:086119Unfortunately I won't be able to get to the public announcement on Wednesday, the children have to be gotten to school at nine which precludes being at the Ark by nine, but I look forward to hearing reports of it. I must admit I will be truly stunned if there is any 'discussion' as I fully expect it to be an announcement followed by a series of excuses backed up by carefully selected extracts from their so-called public consultation results. It would be a welcome surprise if they prove me wrong, although I somehow doubt they will.

i may be mistaken, but i think that it was a chap called noah that operated the ark.
moses was the cove that made a pedestrian crossing across the red sea.

21:516140howard, I am no religion scholar but I do believe Moses had something to do with the Ark of the Covenant, that contained the 10 Commandments (according to a certain archaeologist, Indiana Jones anyway!) while Noah was of course of Noah's Ark fame.... So Marek was right about an Ark association with Moses....

23:006147But then Moses ark would, according to the bible, kill anyone that went near it while Noah's ark was only to save the favoured few. Maybe it is a good choice of venue for PCT's announcement.

At his age Howard is grateful to hold on to anything or anyone.
Regret unable to attend as I am taking mates to see a dying colleague.
Grim but true regrettably.
