19:0631625Thank you for that colin and your post, now inthat you have talked about Alien so we are now looking at the super natural good most of the public think that some thing happen super naturaly but do not know what.
Taking that as right ,then why not God is he not super natural, you are talking of an alien and you are not alone in thinking that. That alien of yours is God .

19:3431629Agree Vic. God must have been an alien if he was here. I think the word super natural sounds a bit out though. Tales of the supernatural, I generally think of the world of witches, goblins fiction writers etc

19:5631633Colin.I think you are wrong man still does not know how it all started forget a bout a big black hole etc.
You can go back and back but some thing Super natural had to happen.
What is super natural means some thing beyond mans minds, that is what it means.
Ok lets just say that is right what does it say in the good book it says this"Man will never fine out the true beginning.
So we should be looking at God not as in the pass but in the future as well it is all super natural but when we died we will find out one way or the other,as for me I take God anyday.

20:3631642Yes Vic, man doesn`t know it all, though some higher than us like to think they do. I`d like to see us all as one, but the only way I can see it ever happening, is to have something occur like that meteorite today, but much bigger, and with a large number of casualties. People of many religions all think that someone is up there to protect them, and save us all, but after a few thousand years of wars, bloodshed and misery, nobody`s come. I`d love to believe like you Vic, and many others, but I just can`t see it.

20:4231643this beginning to remind me of that scene in the film "life of brian" when the crowd is chasing the "messiah" through a market place, when one of the throng points his finger skywards and exclaims "he has gone up to the heavens in a chariot of fire", another follower then states " no he's not, he's over there".

21:0131647Isn`t it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?

22:1131666i find it difficult to understand what you dislike about the church of england rick.
they seem so unagressive.
the usual things from them are coffee mornings and jumble sales in aid of africa and soup kitchens for our homeless
they do not seem to behead people and video it.

22:1731669I have no wish to see the end of any church but the facts are there for all to see.
The church of England might be right in what they doing and the way they do it.
I do not know if they are right or wrong just that at this time I think they have lost a lot of support from the public, and the Queen is the only one as I see it that can do anything about it. But again she might be happy with all that is going on who knows, but I feel she needs to tell the public if as head of the church she is happy with it.King Henry did,I think he was wrong in how he done it but he was not happy and done some thing about it.
Again as head of the church the Queen must look into why the vicors are not happy +why the public are also going over to the R/C, Doing nothing about it is not the right way.

00:4331678If the Church of England collapsed tomorrow Howard I would celebrate with deep joy. One down, loads to go. Let's not forget that plenty of non-religious groups and charities also look after the needy, raise cash for the hungry, offer care for the elderly and homeless, and so on. I know many find it bewildering but an act of kindness is NOT a "Christian act" and no church holds the monopoly on kindness the way they like to think they do. In fact any act of kindness perpetrated by any church is surely a questionable act because of its underlying agenda and belief system. An act of kindness by a non-religious group is more pure as there are no conditions, doctrines, or judgements involved. And, if my history serves me well, I believe the Church of England did most of their beheading before video was invented.

07:4331684Rick - your aggressive stance could spark a war. Would that make it a religious war?

You realy gone for this one, heres my small view.
Having gone through all the catholic schools and sunday church till knew better, IU can tell you the catholics are very much far from perfect!!!
I, like many other catholics could give you some real horror stories of what we witnessed.
But then you move over to the C of E let me tell you why they to get it wrong, a good example was when, with 5 other couples we visited a church for a regulr meeting
One of the couples wanted to know more, and so innocently asked the vicar leading the discussion, whats the diffrence between catholics and C of E ?
to me a good question, but the vicars wife who was not part of the discussion group shouted across the room
"we are right, and they are wrong""
I did ask the vicar if he wanted to comment/agree or disagree on this, but sadly from that moment on, the meetings went down hill.
By the way both vicar and his wife didnt stay in post long after that, last i heard he was let loose in Bath (avon)And I worry for the people there if the vicar and wife hold the same view points.
ON the question of belief, its a hard nut to crack, who's right, who's wrong?
this debate will go on and on

16:0031724If when I died and there was a God, and he asked me why I didn`t believe in him, I`d have to quote Professor Richard Dawkins classic answer. `Not enough evidence m`lord.`

18:1931756i remember the comedian w.c.fields on his death bed reading a bible.
a friend came in and asked if he had converted to christianity, his reply, "no, just looking for loopholes".

00:5234102Interesting to see the mysterious Bishop of Dover, Dr Stephen Venner, retired today:

Let's hope his successor can maintain his high profile. Whoever that may be.
