19:5266091There's no doubt M&S is a good retailer, however, their Dover store has too much stock and not enough room for customers! Given that they no longer have a store in Folkestone, it's a shame they haven't taken the opportunity to expand in Dover. A brand new, large M&S as the anchor tenant of the DTIZ - now that would be progress!
It's also a shame that M&S close at 5pm and don't open on Sunday. Certainly during the summer months they would attract a lot of custom, not least from passengers on the cruise ships. Of course with national retailers, the local management probably have very little say. Having said that, therein lies the opportunity for the independent retailers to steal a march on the big boys.

20:0266096Thanks, Howard. Combination of a quick holiday and busy at work! Rest assured, I've still been following discussions on the forum. Hence getting round to making some comments on recent postings.
Speaking of M&S I recently paid a visit to Plymouth. Last went there about five years ago, but in that short space of time they've got a new shopping centre with a sparkling new M&S, not to mention new housing developments, park-and-ride, etc, etc. Makes you wonder why such developments seem to happen so quickly in other parts of the country, but not here!
