13:2636160I also use M&S alot I know up the line they do have a separate shop for food and clothes but it would be a great loss to the town if M&S ever pulled out.
Use it or lose it I agree Sue didn't realised they had stopped their ordering service thats a shame.

13:2636161Being only three minutes from the Town Centre my wife prefers to support the town shops and is a regular at M&S.
She has recently written to Mr Rose as the failure to be able to order items at the Dover store (as highlighted by Sue) means having to travel to Canterbury with the result that the money goes into the Canterbury economy and not Dover, also means that Dover is "starved" of a sale.
Even worse was last week on attempting to change an item of clothes the staff are now unable to phone Canterbury during the sales to see if it is in stock. Result my wife went by bus to Canterbury (Took 1hr due to heavy traffic in Canterbury plus running late both ways) got there nothing in stock so three hours wasted.
The staff at Dover are very helpful but are often advising people to go on to M&S website to order... surely a recipe for running down a high street outlet which Dover badly needs to retain.

13:3736164#4 Yes Roger, would be good if they could expand. Any space up the top does anyone know? Or just a storeroom.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

For some reason the odeon was favoured

21:1836190Can't remember the name but they are up the London Road behind the Nettos development (shortly to be re-named the Morrison deveopment!!) just before the Bridge Street traffic lights. And going there gives you the opportunity to have a look further down London Road - which is great. Could be better, would benefit from a few nice murals and a couple of more interesting shops (suggestions: Jamaican grocers and Catholic artefacts...not in the same shop, necessarily...). Love those yams and green bananas, and the chance to redeem my soul at the same time shouldnt be sniffed at!! But London Road has a lot to offer the people-watcher and the laid-back shopper.

21:2936202plans do not mean a lot in our town susan.
the "new" plans for the seafront and dtiz are wonderful, artists impressions do just that, impress.
are you going to tell us what the plans are, or do a victor on us, and leave us in suspense?

15:0436240I know the chemist you mean Bern. I refuse to go there these days. About a year ago I was waiting and an old boy on crutches walked in. He'd apparently been in the day before. When he masked for his prescription he was told that it still wasn't in. He said that he'd come down from Tower Hamlets and needed it that day. The unhelpful assistant (the fat one) said that he should come back the next day. He complained and left. As he walked out the assistants all laughed.
I find that Maureen and the locum David (ex BHD) in the one opposite me are very helpful.

15:1936242Wow Terry, that shop assistant has got a name for life now. Interesting on here, you can start a post on the town, and soon head up out of it, so before we get to Buckland post office, (

), I`m going back to M&S. There was a time of course, when this store was always dearer than others, but I have noticed in recent years, some items are cheaper, and better quality than.......... We`ve had some posts on them.

15:2736243Terry, your word is important. And, I was in that local pharmacy I had mentioned myself just before Christmas for a simply px for antibiotics, and was told to go back the next day.........not impressive for a pharmacy!! What you said has made me think twice - that attitude is not acceptable. They may feel safe to be that way because they are opposite a GP surgery. Which is the one opposite you? It will be getting my business now!

16:3736246Couldn't say Bern, that would be advertising. Surely you know roughly where I live, most peolpe do! Let's face it there aren't many chemists in London Road.
