13:428680Got all them Sue but got a call from one of Howards Friends to say she lives in a flat and hadn't received anything, just goes to show even when you let people know they still don't get the message.
I have heard from one of my friends who is a bin man that the rounds have extended thier work yesterday by 2 hrs,and they don't collect the black boxes, blue or green bags.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

18:558745Most of my neighbours put their rubbish out on the old day, Tuesday. Needless to say it remained out uncollected. I smiled and put mine out on the new day, today.
Nobody came. Unless they are doing a night shift it will stay there.

10:028765The same happened along my road Terry.
It was also recycling day, the bin bags went but all of the recycling stuff is still waiting to be collected.
If it stays over the weekend I think we will have a right mess on our hands.

11:038771Bin men came at 07.20 this morning. Our recycling doesn't start 'till next Thursday. Can't really wait for that, I'll have to take all the empty gin bottles to the tip at the weekend!

14:458791It does seem a mess, but the good news my rubbish was collected and I was recycled as well, the only thing is our days haven't changed.Perhaps when the rubbish is collected you should have a street party.

00:298958I can report that the recycling is being collected. Today I have seen two of the big blue recycling bags in the street that have been taken by the wind after the collection.

02:208959It now looks as if we're going to have rubbish lining London Road until Thursday now because as no one received leaflets in my section of the street (about 5 houses) everyone put their rubbish out on Friday! It really does look a complete mess along London Road at the moment....no change there then!
What is it with the Thursday thing? Absolutely everyone I've spoken to have had their bin day changed to Thursday.....how are they going to manage that??

All the lorry's during the week are starting from outside Dover,Villages etc, and gradually working their way into Dover, by Thursday's all outskirts etc should have had their rubbish collected, and ALL lorrys used then in Dover, thats what supposed to happen.

08:428965Collections in Deal a little later in the day yesterday[new collection day] but as Sid wrote it is working. All recyclates & routine collections have been completed for those who put out their items for collection in time. Ring in if you have a problem & are missed. It will take time to bed in new collection rounds & increased recycling offer. Sorry for inconvenience, Sita are working well & adjusting rounds as problems occur. Your now have the most comprehensive FREE ,WEEKLY, waste & recycling service in East Kent. I know that some areas do not receive the full service, which is due to difficulties with vehicles, access & location.

14:018979And Paul the FREE in capital letters, so what are the rates/council tax for? I am sure there is an allocation on the bills for refuse collection.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

15:558983The stuff is being collected eventually yes, but the communication of changes has fallen down. It's possible that they'll tell us that putting the recycling out before seven in the morning may be a bit of wishfull thinking.
Worryingly, I have received conflicting information over the past week as to where the new recycling plans come from. The District Council's Performance Report second quarter 2008/09 states that DDC continues 'to develop the Council's recycling services in partnership with the other East Kent authorities'. This infers that this is, and has been, ongoing for some time.
However, I also received a Ward News Autumn 2008 from my local Conservatives. It claims to be from Your Local Conservative Team Newsletter. This newsletter suggests that a J Rook and a K Smith surveyed my ward and those that took part indicated that recycling was a major concern and the two of them have acted to improve the service.
A couple of points: I have no recollection of the survey myself, and the figures of my neighbours responses have not been published to my knowledge. The J Rook and K Smith appear to be Conservative councillors and dont appear to be resident in my ward.
A couple of questions: does the council get set recycling targets by the government? If so the claims in the leaflet appear to be bogus. Do the council get money or grants from the government in respect of recycling? If so the claims in the leaflet appear to be bogus. How long has the council been working with other authorities? When did the council make the decision to make improvements to the service?
A further point: if the council has been planning this for some time it is likely that the improvements were acceptable and voted on by my ward councillors so I dont need this propaganda through my door.
A further question: has J Rook and K Smith been selected as Conservative candidates for the County Council elections to be held next year? If this is the case I suppose you can understand the unwanted and bogus leaflet.

17:078990Chris the point about FREE & WEEKLY is that our neighbours charge for green waste & have fortnightly collections of routine waste.
Sid, I'm not engaging in the political points. I am giving you information.

20:058997The fact that neighbours charge and have 2/52 collections doesn't mean ours are FREE......rates, taxes etc etc etc etc...........

20:529006Bern , absolutely correct. I will re-word to no additonal charging unlike comparable neighbouring authorities.
