Seems like they aren't in a rush to open, nobody in there today preparing to set things up, the ladies clothing shop has now closed and the odds and ends shop is still closed.

I think I was the only person in the Charlton centre earlier that wasn't shop owner/staff or sitting in the cafe.
The rest of the town was buzzing with most people clutching their Dover greeters guides and braving the cold weather.

Last week we were out and about in the town centre a lot. It was fairly busy although not in the Charlton Centre. It was at its busiest on Sunday when very few shops are open. I wonder whether the smaller independent shops have tried Sunday opening?

I am beginning to think the owners want to close the Charlton Centre for shopping and turn it all into housing except for the two units that face the road.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

I was in there today and its dead in there at the moment, more staff than customers in most cases, there was some work being done on the veg shop which should be opening shortly but the general mood in the centre isnt good, its starting to feel like its coming to an end.

Went through about an hour ago and there were about 6 people seated on the floor against the back wall inside, a chorus of "we shall not be moved" would have been appropriate.

Went past this morning and the unit was in darkness with a sign saying that he will be opening soon in another location. Lot of conjecture on social media as would be expected. Some saying that the management were unaware of any gas problem, others that he hadn't paid rent all the time he was there but as manager of the centre that may have been the deal.
A set of scales is now in situ at the forthcoming greengrocers.
