melissa
we do not dislike VR up here in priory maxton and elms vale.
mind you, that is because no-one knows of her existence.
bring back the keith and roger combination, everyone knew(and in rogers case) know, them.
All cllrs should in hindsight live within their ward so they know where the problems are. We have a few problems up here but sadly the lost and wanted posters i put up for Cowen, Mills and Smallwood havent had much luck.

Perhaps Chris you would like to tell us about the meeting at David Lloyds House you had about the new Mayor and who was there! I have kept out of this because I want to but I know what happened.
Sue is/was a good Mayor no one is disputing that, but when a decision is made at a Labour group meeting of all Labour Town Cllrs(only) then this is usually carried thru.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

Melissa in a real world you are right, yet I represent Tower Hamlets and don't live there, yet I spend most of my free time there and I am on various groups,I also lived there for 20 years, are you saying that if I am able to afford a better house I shouldn't move because I am a District Cllr.I live in St Rads yet very rarely in St Rads ward.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!
I could talk about a Labour Councillor who wantd to be Mayor and approached the Indies to vote for him. He wasn't the Labour Party choice and disagreed with the 'democratic' vote. The four 'rebels' are no different. So, let's not make out we have a united and democratic Labour Party. At the end of the day, all they are interested in is getting the robe.
It would be 'cleaner' if the Mayor were elected by the townsfolk, not henchmen carving up a cake.
JHG, yet you have just said you spend time in your ward and thats what we up at sunny St Rads dont get except for when voting time near we may get a glimpe of our scared cllrs.

Can't do that Syd unless 5% of the population start a petition, the minor parties always use this as an arguement, make sense open up the voting, but you watch if they get in power the Indies will do the same thing. You stood Syd and didn't get elected.I stood at the same time and got elected (left now) and we had more Cllrs than the Indies,as the ruling group we get the chance to choose the Mayor.
I could see this happening at District PW saying to me John I have got a vancancy on the Cabinet can you help,or Gordon Brown saying to Vince Cable I like you come and join the Cabinet.I have said many times on here in politics you get nothing for coming second.

John I can guarentee that we have never had a 'meeting' at David Lloyds house. We did recently have a meeting at which we brought eachother up to date on what we have been doing and sorted out our upcoming AGM. Had anyone asked my voting intentions I would have told them but it did not come up.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

In May last year the electorate of Dover Town rejected Councillor Cowans to represent them at County level so what gives the Labour party the right to impose him on the town in the influential position of Mayor.
Keith, as you profess to no longer being a member of the Labour party, your information can only be second hand as is mine. The version of events at the Labour party meeting as given to me differs from yours. What can be ascertained is that so close to an election the local Labour party is in total disarray.
Keith
We had this out last year and you are getting even more ridiculous!
I was not going to join in these silly comments of yours - you are making things up to suit your principles.
No one in the "indies" is made to vote any way but as they want and NEVER have. I have never been in david LLoyds house and I did not know that Sue was going to stand until that evening. No deals have EVER been done by me or the Dover Alliance.
Yes we have discussed it as Chris says at a meeting in my office a few weeks ago and it wasn't a closed meeting and we dont take votes! EVER.
Now leave personal comments about what you think was said by third parties ( have you ever been in court? Because you would make a bad witness!) and comment on what you know and have experienced.
Your fabrications are based upon your friends who wouldnt know the truth if it bit them! Believe me I have no need to tell anything but the truth. And frankly if you cant understand that people can act that way its your problem.
Now as far as I am concerned 18 Councillors were voted by the public and 18 Councillors should discuss the whole matter openly and decide who is best for the job. Sadly you think Democracy is that a ruling group should decide. I think you are wrong both morally and in fact.
You will note in the above that I have not made any allegations about the antics of the Labour party or how they conduct their business. I am responding to your continual jibes with inventions of your own. Sad.
I will now post no more on this subject ( thats the truth!)

I will need to reply, your own alliance cllr informed me so it was first hand on how she was told she had to vote a particular way and objected.
But Iwill leave it there.
SID
I suspect I know which labour member you speak about, but theres loyal labour party members, and theres paid up members of the party two diffrent things
KEN
Yes your correct mines from the outside, but never the less the principle of what I say is the same
DAVID
I -go along partly with what you say, and this does happen,
The labour cllrs on the town council has every right to nominate a person who ever that may be as does the alliance party if they so wished.
The ins and outs of how each party operates is fair enough, the labour cllrs decide to nominate, and we are led to believe the alliance doesn't although I don't believe that I will go along with it.
Theres been decisions i'v had to go along with because in a DEMOCRATIC vote I was in the minority so supported the majority view. thats being in a club that i joined at that time, and signed up to do so.
Anyway then at the full council all 18 cllrs do get the vote.
KEN;
You were happy when in the labour group to accept these decisions, and in the main abide and agree to them(until now of course)
and gained positions in the group by this method.
But I recognise you have dropped your loyalties, and running with the tories, so yours will be politcal point scoring.
In general i'm glad i'm out of it all, and can dabble when I want, do what I want in my time, if I were still a cllr I think I would have less patience these days.
