Ray, you remind me of the old GCE History question 'Write down the four causes of WW2' where you can get top marks by filling one side of A4 paper while real historians are discussing the real reasons nearly a century later and still debating the facts.
'the reason we left ............................ was the blonde buffoon and his whisky salesman protégé' indeed!
Cue BBCQT audience giving standing ovation and waving EU flags, much as they use to do for the aforementioned buffoon and the salesman (of GIN surely?) with the flag of St George but a few years ago.
Yeah right, and what they wrote on the bus was a lie and it was only a minority of the whole population voted for it so we should all have another vote now we know much more and five year olds should get a vote because it's their future instead of pensioners who will be dead soon anyway.
Back to the topic of immigration? Please.

Lovelly to see use of the word 'scoff'.

So who else instigated the agreement with the EU and had to resort to proroging parliament in order to pass it into law? Theresa May? the Labour party, perhaps? I know - it must have been those pesky Europeans forcing it upon us. I somehow doubt that you're in a position to teach history to anyone.
Such inanity.
It's staggering how immigration has decreased since we left the EU, isn't it?
And, of course, when we were actually co-operating with Europe we were swamped with immigrants. A veritable dumping ground.
And the final inaccuracy - David Frost was chief executive of the Scottish Whisky Association before the our most prolific and habitual liar of a politican decided to recast him as a diplomat to the wider amusement of the rest of the world.

BREAKING:
Von der Leyen presents the EU's 10-point-plan for Lampedusa.
No EU naval blockade coming. Italy will have to go at it alone...
1. Reinforce support for Italy by Frontex to manage the high number of migrants to ensure registration of arrivals, fingerprinting, debriefing and referral to the appropriate authorities.
2. Support the transfer of people out of Lampedusa, including to other Member States using the voluntary solidarity mechanism.
3. Step up returns by undertaking a renewed, concerted outreach to the main countries of origin of the new arrivals.
4. Support the prevention of departures by establishing operational partnerships on anti-smuggling with countries of origin and transit.
5. Step up border surveillance at sea and aerial surveillance including through Frontex, and explore options to expand naval missions in the Mediterranean.
6. Take measures to limit the use of unseaworthy vessels and take action against the supply chains and logistics of smugglers.
7. Increase support by the EUAA to apply swift border and accelerated procedures.
8. Increase awareness and communication campaigns to disincentivise the Mediterranean crossings, while continue working to offer alternatives such as humanitarian admission and legal pathways.
9. Step up cooperation with UNHCR and IOM to adopt a comprehensive route-based approach to ensure protection along the route.
10. Implement the EU-TU Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

Whilst daily celebrating the fact that Commonwealth citizens flooded to the UK post WW2 to help rebuild Britain (though wondering how Russia, Germany and half of Europe, much more devastated, managed without colonial labour) I was particularly pleased to discover, via the BBC Childrens' Propaganda Unit that we have always been a multi-cultural society teeming with persons of colour (dread phrase) since pre-historic times.

We only encouraged them to come for fun, didn't you know that? It was wheeze by the then government to ensure that future pseudo historians with a nugatory grasp of the subject would have the ability to vent their spleens in future years!

#803: Mildly surprised that the Plan doesn't include encouraging EU citizens to emigrate to Africa to balance the people flows, but perhaps that would be regarded as colonialism and thus a Bad Thing. Seriously, I had assumed that the Plan was SOP already.

Precicely. Like |Starmer. What we're doing, prefaced by increase and support and step-up and implement.
No new ideas.

Just published. They helped build Stonehenge. Seriously,
From the very first people to set foot on these islands, Black people have made and shaped Britain into what it is today. Brilliant Black British History is the book I wished I had growing up. ― David Lammy, MP

Here's Douglas Murray no doubt writing rubbish:-
https://x.com/DouglasKMurray/status/1704839812350456005?s=20
And here he is speaking it:-
(Nothing to worry about here. Nothing in my carer's Guardian either today or yesterday, though loads of coverage of Russell Brand (day six), who apparently was 'joking' on Radio 2 to millions about indecently exposing himself to someone which we all found hilarious at the time).
