Ok Sue I was abit over the top but off course we would reduce the Shadow Cabinet as well so that would be another £4-5000.actually I meant to post £10,000 but got a bit overexcited.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!
Probably £20k is a bit much, but it is important to remember the additonal costs as well as direct payment to councillors, such as admin and support etc.

I shall not need so much support now Bern .I will be able to go for long walks and not rush my meals and eat all the wrong things .Give up the old wine as there will be less stress and I will be a reinvented size 10.How I wish. Truth be known the cabinet seats were getting a bit tight with over weight members .A new slimmer model was needed
I still retai a sense of humour ..

Sue,
In reality the cabinet posts which were increased by the tory administration was purely to get kit smith a cabinet post, but like John said this was an opportunity to down size again.
I got on realy well (most of the time) with Kit, but it was a post not realy required.
Sue I feel works better as a back bencher, and I hope she will return to her pre
opposition days where Sue fought her corner.
That was the Sue that was great, we fought many battles on the same side (remember all them transport meetings sue!!!)
I think even Barryw will agree theres not to many characters any more.
Have a glass on me Sue - we may have clashed but I can still recognise your contribution. Enjoy your vino!! And if you work out how us more mature ladies can indeed trim down to a size 10, please drop me a line.........!

Yes Keith those were good times ,however someone we all know who decided the committee should go .It was a useful forum and I would like to think the New Floor Buses and the School freedom passes came out of our many discussions .Still one person will never give us any credit .Its Me ME with that person /Time will tell and one day the public will understand .
Yes I like the back benchers however the meetings have been reduced and the agenda at Full Council you have to be really crafty to wheedle an issuie accross and that is what I shall do .Wheedle away .

Sue I think you would be a good wheedler, glad I am glad I amnot your leader,I get it in the neck at home so it is good at Council meetings because her in doors can't give me a hard time.

And Sue don't forget to make the most of some of that precious time you now find yourself with...... Enjoy!
I second that Sue. It must be the season for it........I too am taking a job nearer to home to be with family more and spend more time, well, doing stuff other than working!! There is a time for reappraisal, perhaps Spring 2009 is the one for us.

SUE
Yep, like yourself I allowed politics to dominate my life, but 18 months ago sitting in the council chamber I had a stock check, and started on the route of getting my life back.
Yes Sue I have my family and thats one of the reasons for my stepping out of politics and its a breath of fresh air, going where I please, when I please, not being stopped everywhere with people and casework.
There are a lot of charities or interests that i'm sure SUE you can involve yourself in if you want to remain active.
Lots of charities are crying out for volunteers.
Your best bet is take a look around see what it is you want to do with your life and guage the time you want to spend on it.
Keep busy im sure you will.

I did that once and decided to give up football to spend more time with my wife and kids because they hated it,result my ex Mrs ran off with the new Secretary of the football club, and my youngest daughter plays football now, still they are grown up,and football is still in my heart and even now because of the friends I made I can rely on cheaper holidays in the USA and Germany.
