Except the salary will probably be less than £40k and may be filled by one of the present DDC employees 'on secondment' I would think.

Mr Phelps did do a great volunteer job over the years with many obstacles out in his way by the councils.
But it was never going to survive in the way he was running it.
My concern now would be , are the councils any better ?

As I said , I think Mr Phelps did an ok job but lacked on how to promote it.
Although over the years the councils didn't help .
It's good it's now going to pushed as a tourist attraction

Is there a plan for a new building because at the moment it looks like a big WW2 pill box?

Have to say, opening times was one of its many problems .
Also money needed to be spent inside

Have you been Keef? I went last w/e.
A real transformation by DDC - less cluttered - all new signage.
Three dehumidfiers going full time (yet the doors wide open?)
DO get down there peeps.
It ain't Herculaneum BUT it is ours.

As I stayed before , it really did need better opening times , getting rid of loose wiring,
More finance in it .
And pushed as a tourist attraction
