Ive had some information through from the police, now on frontpage with pictures. Many thanks to Colin for his shots, one now on frontpage with one of my own.
The top picture in the frontpage shot shows the considerable amount of resources we can throw at these things. Outside of top shot there were other police vehicles blocking Wellesley Road. It is re-assuring to know that we still have all these resources at our fingertips.

I did hear earlier on this afternoon that this was a fatal accident, as Andy mention`s above. I do hope it`s wrong. Whatever the outcome, hopefully the picture`s on the forum will serve to show what can happen, in what should be a traffic calmed area. I was sitting down the sea front at lunchtime today, and the usual youngster doing 40 along the front, noisy exhaust to draw attention to himself. It should be 20 mph, all the way along the sea front, as through Sandwich. (Any feedback on Sandwich as to whether 20 mph has had any effect?). There can be no excuse on racing along there for work etc, especially with many distraction`s happening down there, be it viewing the opposite sex, ships, yachting or anything else.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

in my opinion marine parade is the most dangerous road to cross locally.
all seems quiet then a vehicle appears like a shot out of a gun when one is halfway across.

Howard yes Ive had that on the frontpage since early today. Did get a response from the police so information came through. If you didnt see that on the frontpage maybe your auto refresh thing isnt on, you may have to do it manually.

As I do almost every day, I drove down to the Seasports Centre at lunchtime and turned right from Wellesley Road onto the Seafront; mostly because of yesterday's accident - and I understand that the rider is seriously injured but alive (thank God) - I paid extra attention to looking both ways twice before pulling out.
I have to say that the Seafront was very busy at that time, probably the lovely weather bringing extra people out, and that the narrowness of the road because of the 'front-on' parking makes that road very difficult to judge and the peripheral vision is not good. I have raised this before with Paul Watkins, who replied that the road conforms to Highways Agency regulations; I don't doubt that it does, but I truly believe that this road has become extremely dangerous as a result of the change in parking arrangements and I ask that these arrangements be reviewed as a result of this accident. I'm not at all surprised that this accident happened, just thankful that it isn't a fatal accident.
The road is in desperate need of resurfacing, which is a separate issue in itself, but I hope that DDC will review a decision I believe to have been borne out of greed, and repaint the parking bays 'side-on' to the promenade when the road is eventually resurfaced.
True friends stab you in the front.
Good point Andy about the parking scenario. Maybe if DDC won't change it back they will invest in 'littering' the seafront with speed bumps. Perhaps there is a non-financial argument that some of the seafront should be pedestrianised anyway.

quite right paul, i totally missed the bit about the injured party.
the parking is an issue, speed bumps would help things along, colin pointed out earlier how many of us are off our guard and distracted around the seafront.
Part of the problem is that, coming from the Western End to the Eastern end, outside the Yacht Club, the pavement widens, and at the same time there is a bollard in the middle of the road. If cars are parked on the land side round about there, vehicles of all kinds have to pass on the wrong side of the bollard. I cannot see any real reason for it to be there.
It is true that people use Marine Parade as a race track, not only people on bikes, but also "boy racers" in their cars. I cannot see what pleasure they can take or advantage they gain by doing 50 miles an hour from Eastern to Western end.
As a general thing there is not a considerable amount of traffic on this road, mostly people, I think, going to work at Harbour House, or visiting us or Marine Court Hotel. Obviously there is more when the weather is good and at weekends.
Although, having said that, there were 15 camper vans parked there last night!

Brian thats inaccurate. Im afraid the rumours are working overtime. We dont want anyone to get the wrong info if we can avoid it...a chap suffered very bad leg injuries but was taken to William Harvey Hosp, his injuries are not life threatening, but nevertheless very serious.
I had this info directly from the police. The posts above carry this info.
That was the latest news situation as at 10.30 wed 30 June.
The accident happened Tues 29 just after midday.

Just browsing the website..its 6.30 and BANG, another crash on the seafront. This time two cars and another hefty impact. But at a glance nobody appears injured. Its just 100 yards away from my position here....and apart from the loud bang, its all quiet. Not much movement down here so dont know quite how they managed it...there's just a gaggle of travelhome things.
Police will be on there way no doubt.

Never ceases to amaze me but if there's an accident no matter how serious or not the place is swamped by Police Officers however should your ol' granny get burgled and the fear of God put in her....the reply at the end of the phone usually from one's local answering service...in Scunthorpe or wherever.."an Officer will attend as soon as possible and exactly where in Kent is Dover?" .... someone may eventually turn up usually 2 days later if you're lucky (sometimes only a phone call!) Where they proceed to ask dumb questions like.."have you touched anything?".."Well of course I bloody have I've been waiting two sodding days for you to turn up"
Maybe it's a question of priorities to which I am neither qualified or privvy too.

Pictures of the latest crash now on frontpage.
Yes indeed Marek, there seems to be plenty of resources for accidents and emergencies but then I suppose thats a good thing. Crime officers are obviously a different kettle of fish as it were, different division, different section.....so whether there is quite enough of them, well who knows.

I`ll leave this one for you this time Paul. Nice of those 4 chaps in your front page picture to manoeuvre the vehicle for you to get a better shot.
