17:1840199What the heck is going on? We're in the midst of a global warming crisis, and yet Kearsney is covered in snow with more coming down now!!! Took the dog out and came back looking like snowman. Brrrrrrrrrr!!!
Lagos suddenly feels like a good place to be; well at least it is warm there!

17:3140201It is mid Winter Sid, and crisis is the word used by the gutter press/media. As I`ve said before, nice to see nature in control, rather than homo sapien`s.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

17:3340202Yes, Eythorne's looking very pretty at the moment with thick snow covering the roads, fields and roofs. Just off to walk the dog myself now. Gulp!!!

17:3540204Right now it looks extremely odd down here on the seafront too Sid..its a total whiteout as one gawps out the window ..the snow pours down. And there we were thinking there was a hint of spring in the air a few days ago.
I believed myself in the global warming theory, but following the massive snowfall in Washington and the Eastern seaboard USA, where it was the worst snowfall in 90 years, and we ourselves have had the worst one since satellite records began, the global warming theory appears to be baloney...what with discredited scientists n everything.

We saw the snow sweeping across the channel from my bus at about 4pm today (from Ayecliffe)
The picture doesn't do it justice, I wish I'd had my proper camera with me.
It did look spectacular though, the sky was inky black on the French coast and you could see the snow heading our way.
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

18:2540211That's a great photo Jacqui, well done.
For those thinking of travelling, the Whitfield Hill is to be avoided if it all possible, particularly if driving an automatic.

18:3440212At least from Whitfield there`s the dual carriageway all the way round to the M20 which I shall be heading for later. Despite the last lot of weather, both lanes were kept clear all the way. Great picture there Paul, and I wonder what would have happened if it was Boxing Day tomorrow? You do have lovely views up there Jacqui, and it was only last year while off work sick that I spent a number of days walking up there to the far end, and back down again for a cold drink in your local shop.

18:3940213On a second look at your picture Paul, it looks like railway tracks running along the front. Now what about a spur line coming off at Archcliffe and taking passenger`s from up the line straight along the seafront to the Eastern docks??? Ahhh, if only the one`s in charge of building and spending could use their brain to think the way some of us on here do. sigh.

18:4240214Thanks guys.
Colin I don't live at Ayecliffe, I'm a school escort and a couple of our charges live there but yes there are lovely views up there - specially in the Summer.
Just looked out the window and it's snowing hard, wonder if the schools will get an extra couple of days for half term!

18:5840216the gritters done a fantastic job around my way, they were out in force last night and we are reaping the rewards.
pavements fairly clear, and our back doubles are passable, even the bus kept going.
a big thanks to KCC.

19:4540223Jacqui, with all due respect nobody lives in Aycliffe, this is a place where people merely exist.
(No, that was not humour, I once went there having taken a wrong turning).

20:4140232Hey Colin
Just got this on FB from Alison, "is stuck in a traffic jam behind an accident on the M20, in the snow, on way back from London". She has been stuck there for over two hours and the snow is falling hard. You might need to rethink venturing out mate.

20:4540233let's hope that people stuck in that traffic have adequate clothing and something to eat and drink in the car.
always good to keep bars of chocolate in the glove compartment if driving in bad weather.

21:5440237Just had a call from Saskia and Colette returning from Surrey University, cars in Folkestone Road are losing control in the icy conditions, NO GRITTERS!
![](/assets/images/forums/emoticons/eek.gif)
They have had to turn around to rejoin the A20 for Dover, its a Doverforum convoy as they are immediately behind Alison. Lets hope they get home safe.

22:3640238Not seen any gritters this way either had to abandon the car at Hollis Motors area as I couldn't get up the hills home

- Hope my little car will be OK, and that the roads are a little clearer for getting to work tomorrow. Many roads like ice rinks around this area slip sliding everywhere SCARY!!!!!!
