23:1140240these posts really astonish me, it seems like the main thoroughfares have not been treated as well as the back doubles.
is this in response to the complaints we all made the last time?

23:4040243They gritted my road last night too. Having said that cars have been having a terrible time getting up here tonight. I was just talking to a man parking outside my house who told me he just drove from London to Dover and it took him five and a half hours. He couldn't get up Green Lane because of an accident so he was walking to his house on the estate.
My son has just got home from work in Canterbury and he said Stagecoach have been terrific in telling people what's happening. He has a season ticket, but a driver on a National Express coach told him to jump on and he brought him through to Dover. From all we're hearing I'm very glad I'm indoors in the warm and so are all my family!
Take care out there everyone

00:0740244Left Ashford at 1650 got home in River at 2100.
Once I got onto it the easy bit was going through the Alkham Valley just me and the car after sitting in that dam jam on the M20 and the slip road off once through the tunnel was also a pain, cars abandoned every where at the Hawkinge end of the slip road
Best bit got to do it all again in the morning back the other way, snow good thinking about it now got some snowring to do.

07:3540250Scotchie no power problems here at the moment but there have been flashes of lightning and crashes of thunder so anythings possible. It looks very grim out there..best not to travel if you dont have to.

08:0040252Good news - school closed.
Bad news - SWMBO left the car (for reasons best known to womanhood) in a pay parking place last night so have just gone outside to move it 200 metres to a redidents' parking space.
Quality duvet time coming up!

08:2140254Well it looks like it is going to be a stay at home day, another day's holiday that I have to have - this carries on, I will have taken my annual leave by the end of March.
Pretty on postcards, but I really don't like the white stuff, it looks like we have had a thick white duvet cover our street, not a drop of grit to be seen (and a bus route too)
Good luck to anyone who has to venture out today, don't forget you spade, blanket, nibbles and hot drink, you may be in your little car a little longer than you had planned.

09:5940259Whitfield Hill closed and impassable at present. I can see 7 abandoned cars from yesterday nicely snowed in and going knowhere for a day or two.
I've got a feeling there is more white stuff to come.

11:0340261You may have noticed this van along the seafront in the picture I took thru the gloom last night about 5pm. I thought it had been abandoned..but no, a girl emerged from inside it this morning and began to scrape ice off the windows..clearly she, and maybe one other, had spent the night in it. My Gawd! imagine spending a night in those conditions without all mod cons...

11:1140262Ref #15. Thanks for that Sid, but I`d already long gone. A blizzard blowing down the Jubilee Way, and just the odd lorry. The same up over the A20 past the Aycliffe roundabout and all the way to the M20. Both carriageways were icy, so not sure whether gritted. Not much traffic about, but then, on the opposite carriageway past the Hougham turn off was your accident, and the traffic was stretching right back out of sight up the M20. Traffic had cleared when I left work early around 01.30, but raging blizzard most of the way home. I drove round Dover town centre for a little while, and what a picture. No traffic or pedestrian`s. A site never to be forgotten.

11:2840267What a great picture Paul. I`ve seen excellent one`s on here from all, but this one you`ve taken is breathtaking. I`d be happy having that hanging on the wall at home.

11:3840268Heading for the Co-op in River soon as ran out of the amber nectar last night. Should be fun, if a trifle cold. My Nigerian outfits aren't much use in this weather though!
