There is also a new games shop due to open soon further up London Road - specialising in board games (warhammer, white dwarf etc)

I'm an investor in the gaming shop opening on London Road, being run by a friend. Opens on the 31st. (best laid plans of mice and men...)

I wish them all the very best but that is not a site I would have chosen with two other pubs ( although completely different) so very near.

Perfect spot for, and size for, a micropub. Think outside the box - that's the whole point of them! Think of Deal's Just Reproach, The Folkestone Firkin and The Conqueror in Ramsgate as prime examples of pubs in non-pub premises. It harks back to pubs' original ethos, which still exists largely in Ireland and in bars in mainland Europe. I love the fact that an opticians is being replaced by a beer-goggles emporium.
Good luck to the owners of The Rack Of Ale. Dover could and should be full of such places, if all the 'authorities' stopped strangling businesses at birth with exorbitant rent, business rates etc. It would reintroduce a grown-up, civilised drinking experience to Dover, which currently only (and shamefully) resides at The White Horse and Blakes.

Corner of Ladywell now has whitened windows and Miles & Barr signage.
The London Road fireplace shop (B&H) opens at the end of the month. Stan is busy painting etc.
As to Guildhall Games, I had to look up Larping. I lead a sheltered life.

Oh, and by the way, the shop in #20 is a mobile phone shop. As if we didn't have enough.

Didn't notice that this morning Brian.
The former Central Cafe, Istanbul etc is now a S/H shop. Simon seems to be doing good business!

Having been around a lot of towns centre in the pass week or more,I think Dover is doing well always new shops opening and the C/centre is now full up with shops all taken and for the first time I went and had a meal in the cafe in there must say it was hot and good at a low cost and I will be using it more, new repair shop for washing machine open and I found out that the person running it is the son of a good mate of mine. He does a low cost call out for serving a machine you can buy news one of him if you want to. More public walking about, I know the good weather we are having this year does help to.

Terry - any chance you can get pictures of the openings of the shops on our patch for the website? I wont be around much at weekends for the rest of this month otherwise would have made sure I got along to them

Already arranged with Lisa Ross. Ronnie is officiating apparently. I'm keeping a close eye on the others.
I did have it in mind for a "New Faces" feature now that I'm more mobile again.
