That is a terrible shame,i liked that they had cash machine inside the bank, far better than standing outside and for whatever you can do on the app its always good to be able to actually go in n talk to someone if theres a query or problem.Something that seems to be becoming a thing of the past now.

It seems banking customers are now being treated as a complete nuisance except when we deposit our money with them.
There are times when we need that personal face to face interview with a real live person, even those who are normally happy on the internet.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Yer thats right,i,ve adapted as best i can,if it wasnt for our kids i,m not sure how i would have got on with it,they showed me how to set up the App and i manage reasonably well with it but there are times when you need to speak in person with someone at the bank,we,ll soon have no banks at all.I feel sorry for those unable to manage the new technology.

Thanks Bob
Some of us have been quietly working in the background to achieve something similar here in Dover.
Currently the rules of the game are that there is no obligation on the banks to support/deliver a banking hub whilst one them still has a branch in the locale. In the case of Dover, this means we will struggle to put something in place whilst Nationwide still have a presence in the town.
In the interim it is imperative that each banks retail & business customers push them to provide at least a once a week mobile presence in the centre of town, as well as appropriate local methods for cash deposits such as deposit ATMs.
I had previously managed to get an organisation called Cash Access UK (https://www.cashaccess.co.uk/) to instruct their members (all the major banking groups) to provide a deposit ATM in or near Market Square. I currently understand that they are seeking a suitable site & negotiating with the relevant owners etc.

I have just checked and they have recently announced a banking hub within a year (i.e. March 2026) here in Dover -
https://www.cashaccess.co.uk/hubs/dover-kent/
Apparently there is also a deposit ATM within Morrisons (https://www.cashaccess.co.uk/deposit-services/dover/) which is a start, but a more central place would be of greater help to small businesses in & around Market Square

Then may your struggle be long but fruitless, RM.

Well done Ross
It's the face to face that's also required
But present staff can't or are told not to get involved in answering even basic stuff , and instead push everyone online

The new owner 'said it had chosen the TGJones name because it carried "the same sense of family" as WH Smith.'
Except WHS originated as a family business, whereas 'TGJones' was pulled out of the air by private equity.
Typical modern Britain experience: gut tradition while using tradition's skin to peddle your wares.
Increasingly fake country.
