Keith Samsum1. You make me laugh
When you put posts up like the above. Your a Town Councillor. Supposed to be connected.
Says it all really.
To be fair if you ask a different and maybe a higher level Councillor a question and they can not or will not give an answer there is not a lot you can do.

The rally was well intentioned but could never be effective unless DDC took it seriously and set up a task force to tackle the problem, even then property owners can't be forced into anything other keeping their premises tidy.

Christina
I'm very connected
or wouldn't have been elected by such a big majority by local people in a marginal ward

A crowd gathered outside Nifties earlier when a stroppy parking warden ticketed a van unloading there. I cried out "What's all this shouting, we'll have no trouble here" to no avail.

Unfortunately loading and unloading in the pedestrianised part of Biggin St is only permitted before 10am and after 4pm. That has always seemed (to me) to be a petty, spiteful administrative decision designed deliberately to make life difficult for local businesses.

No sir not true it is done to stop van running or backing into some one like a young mum with small ones, getting run over or us old ones who can not get around like we use to.

You find in all Town Centres they have loading and unloading times at certain times in pedestrian precincts. This for safety reasons and control the amount of traffic in the precinct. Just because it is Nifties does not make it any different. My brother managed a pub in Canterbury City Centre all unloading etc had to be completed by 10.30.

You will just have to walk up to their shop up from Charlton Centre near the traffic lights in future Howard.

That's a pity. Their crusty rolls were always the best for me. Nice staff too. London road is a bit too out of the way.

Encountered Sir Peter Wallace in town earlier and I was gushing over the St James development but he was very concerned over the future of Biggin Street. We have gone over the general subject of the future of town centres on here many times in great depth and I found this article to be a good starting point for how things could pan out.

Some will miss him and some will not care.
He has moved three times since starting in 2016 so never really got his business established anywhere.

A planning application for change of use to the former Dorothy Perkins has gone in to turn it into a restaurant/bistro.

How many more food outlets does this town need ?

I have asked that question many times over the years Sue but the fact is that very few fail and when they do another food and/or drink business usually takes over.

I agree we probably have enough fast food outlets but we certainly need more restaurant/ bistro type eateries. It's the future of the High Street and good luck to whoever takes it on.
