This will make the Dover IBF even more attractive to the local residents, businesses etc. I look forward to walking along the roman road and seeing this going on...... (he says sarcastically)

Mrs Elphicke seems way ahead of you: "While I completely understand that no-one wants a development near their own home, this is a nationally critical piece of infrastructure that is required to help make a success of Brexit and which will secure jobs and money for hundreds of local people."
https://www.kentonline.co.uk/dover/news/living-in-the-shadow-of-brexits-customs-clearance-sites-239412/.
Could've been worse though - at least it's not French controls. Mrs Elphicke again "Smooth-running trade between Dover and Calais is in the interests of both the United Kingdom and the European Union. In fact, especially for the EU, as they sell us much more than we sell them. Yet the behaviour of the French authorities over Christmas and since appears to have hampered that vital smooth trade rather than enable it... In recent days, there are additional concerns that an unduly heavy-handed approach is being taken on export paperwork."

There. Fixed it for Mrs E.

As I’ve already stated much earlier if this proposal was for the outskirts of Deal/St Margaret’s we would never have been having this debate. Can you imagine the outcry from all those Londoners who have second homes in Deal or the Bay? Cant possibly have their properties devalued- they might change how they vote!!

I'm not sure that's true. The Elphickes jumped fully on board the Brexit bandwagon and as such, have to agree to everything related to it henceforth. Dover was always going to carry a significant Brexit burden, and this is but part of that. But, we're told it'll all be worth it, hopefully so!

Yes, you halfwit. But their trade is spread between 27 states with a combined GDP over 8 times the size of ours who are more capable of redistribution within a single market than one 'sovereign' state on its own.
But don't let the facts get in the way of the PR bulls**t you need to justify concreting over parts of Kent unnecessarily. I suppose it will appease the gullible though.

I have just read the agenda and reports for tonight’s DDC extrodinary Meeting .I was pleased to see some of the Comments made by officers.Sadly I think this proposalwill be voted through and the hopes of dualling the A2 will just be pushed to the back of the queue .This was a golden opportunity for DDC to say enough is enough. The proposed facility is going to be on the wrong side of Dover. The A20 was altered to.cater for port traffic .
I have copied my letter to Our MP ,I think her sights are on higher things .

True, but then so was the A2. The point about the facility is that it's going to be in the wrong district or even county.

If Brexit planning says jump, our MP simply asks how high. The way it has to be.
But so far, the lorries won't be there as the majority seem to be going back empty

It's for inbound traffic too though - a Transit Office of Destination, customs clearance and of course checks and inspections by Defra et al.

I'm currently watching the live council meeting about their response to the IBF. It's very interesting to hear the comments being made, but it's clear there are so many unknowns still on this site.
