Man of the people or simply a party stalwart?
I assume this refers to Guston. While I am not defending him maybe he is simply being realistic knowing it is a done deal, whether we like it or not.

That's the impossible position local Conservatives find themselves in. Having been such vocal advocates for Brexit, it's pretty difficult to subsequently complain about anything Brexit related! On the plus side, can we assume this means more jobs coming into the area?

Cllr Lymer has provided Guston PC and the residents with amazing support - he’s doing his job not simply supporting the party machine. Even if it might appear to some to be a ‘done deal’ that doesn’t negate the right of residents throughout the district from having their say and being properly represented by the Cllrs who are there to represent them.

Yes - that is the site. I wouldn't describe TAP in that way. Maybe he is only being realistic but would you chose to use the adjective 'confident' if you were sympathetic to the locals? As for Lymer, fair play to the chap.

Totally agree, if it is a done deal, and I hope it's not, it doesn't make it right to tow the party line. Standing up for residents is what elected people are there for isn't it? I know some MPs and councillors wouldn't agree.....

If you twinned Guston with Imber, perhaps Mrs Elphicke would care to open the proceedings.

I think it should not be build at Guston or anywhere, The public of Guston have lived there for many years so why must they have to put up with a lorry park and what goes with that like bad air from lorrys keeping the moters running and some of them must do that and others will do it to keep the heaters on and the park will not hold the amount of lorrys it would need to Cllr Lymer will do his best like he all ways does a parish counil is no good the D.D..C. will not take any notice of them just like the rest of them and Dovers MP does not care about Guston or the town only the bay and that is only till they sale the house then she will be gone, and no lost to Dover anyway. and then there is the rubbish that will be left behind them. The K.C.C is the only ones that might stop it if the public keep on to them.

Coo, that's quite a change for someone who said last November: "She has not been in the job very long and has had lot on her mind, lets just wait and see over the next year how she turns out". I guess we've seen.

I agree although I think that is an understatement, in my opinion so far she has been completely useless. If she carries on the way she has done so far since being elected the Tory vote will gradually dwindle away.

Has that article only recently appeared on her web page, Button?
I only ask because I can't help wondering if she'll use it as a shield rather than going out to speak to those directly affected.

Dunno - on 20th January I guess! It all sounds jolly exciting; it's not a lorry park, you understand, it's just a place where lorries go to clear Customs and, er, park for some hours whilst that's going on.
And indeed, Gnat will "continue to follow the development of these proposals closely, so that decisions about this important project can proceed with the best interests of our whole community in mind, including the jobs and investment that will be created and sustained by it".

It seems KCC don't think people around here can cope with the extra lorries on a dual carriageway
40mph signs gone today. Another KCC brainwave bites the dust.

Can't find anything on the Calais sites re Monday.
Here's a translation from the Paris ex-pats site.
There’s a national general strike planned on Thursday, 4 February 2021.
The unions’ demands relate to the government’s recovery plan and its consequences on employment, wages, working conditions, and social protection.
This call for strike potentially concerns all sectors of activity (general / inter-professional strike, transportation included). For the moment, there’s not much information about this strike, so keep clicking for the latest updates.
