The port could ask the ferries that operate out of Dover to limit the number of passengers they book onboard, and Mr Bannister said: "We've had a look at it."
But he said: "But to be fair, what I would rather do is make certain that collectively, we come together and try and service the demand of the coach industry as best as we possibly can."

Now they have moved to the other lane now. Come past there on Thursday 6 guys just standing there looking at the hole ?
Why don't they just flood it with man and get it done. It,s not like it,s on a quite side road.

Perhaps there were 7 guys in the team and one was standing in the hole to measure the depth…..if they couldn’t see him and they knew his height and girth they would then have an accurate measure of infill needed.
Just being prudent with taxpayers money , I would suggest!
Do nothing and nothing happens.

Whilst roadworks are frustrating and seeing 7 or 8 people staring into a hole looks silly, there can be a valid reason for this, depending on what has caused the hole to open up or why it has been dug.
If some unexpected utilities have been found, you will likely have the contractor, possibly a subbie who has dug or needs to fill the hole if the principle contractor didnt or won't, representatives of the utility companies and maybe the organisation responsible for the road all having a look to decide what can be done.

The joys of lorry horns in the morning, afternoon, evening and night time…. We at Aycliffe love the lorry horn chorus. Beats the chorus of bird song any time of day and night

Yep. More checks = longer processing times. Regrettable but inevitable.
