What a shame and what a waste of money, sadly it is a sitting target for the morons.

no point in spending more money on it, we have more school holidays to come that will see further damage,
it has to be relocated soon.

This is the reply I had in February when I wrote to the relevant officer at DDC.
"Dear Roger
Thank you for informing us about the broken glass in the tram shelter.
As you know, within the last 12 months we have already spent around £1,000.00 replacing glass in the shelter and the cost of replacing another 6 panes will be around £700.00. Obviously we will have the glass renewed however before doing so I would like to get the Crime Prevention Design Adviser, Des Connelly to advise on what protection we can give the tram shelter. Perhaps a covert CCTV camera could be installed somewhere nearby?
I will also obtain a quotation to have the tram shelter decorated
Regards"
I'll check what progress he has made.

just seems like throwing good money after bad roger, there is not much in the pot for the compulsory things that council have to do without spending on the shelter.
i don't know the logistics of such a move but the transport museum seems to be the obvious place to send it.
once renovated it will be there for future generations to enjoy.

I think it would help if it looked cared for, it's not just the broken windows, the whole shelter needs redecorating too.

Its so disheartening to see this happening again, sadly I can't see an end to this thuggery

Its probably time to concede to a move to the transport museum.

HOWARD;
Heres one (at the moment) that Roger and I agree on, giving in to the vandals is the wrong way forward.
You should first explore all other options(which to date has not happened)
sorry collette we disagree lol

HOWARD;
Let me point out some of the options already rejected but let's try again.
1; I Would be happy to go into all the local schools speaking to the children (assembly) as to the costs etc of the damage, you would be surprized how the
message gets across and they pass it on to peers and want to be involved in
doing more to save it
2 review again the local resident opposite the shelter willing to site the cctv in
his house-
3; use local media to highlight the problems
thats good for a starter

Ah! shure Keith, I admire your tenacity on this subject

Its just that I can't see how we can protect it from continuous mindless vandalism unless we have round the clock surveillance.

keith
1)the vast majority of kids would not vandalise, just a tiny minority who cannot be reached.
2) cctv is being cut back in main areas so no chance there.
3) see colette's post.

well howard the options are there, and before we give in to vandals(where does that stop)
we should explore these options.
i agree howard the kids probably not the vandals but to highlight it in the schools you would be surprized how they take an interest but also tell there peers who get embarrassed by it or even look out also on it
using the press another way to highlight the problem
and then the cctv its a must in my book
roger are you out there???? lol

It's either CCTV or moving the shelter to the Museum in my opinion.

even if there was money for cctv the chaps/chapesses that do such things rather unsportingly normally wear hoods.

It sickens me to see such disregard.
Sadly we do not know the perpetrators, whether that be mindless youngsters or mindless adults on their way back from the pub!
I love this structure (it must be listed?) and still affectionally refer to it as 'the horse trough' - although bus drivers now seem to question this destination.
Mindlessness comes in many forms, not just the hooded. For example last night whilst walking home, I saw a car stop and a middle age woman dump an empty bottle of 'Tesco's Hock' on the road. Being a good citizen I picked the bottle up and placed it in the nearest bin.
