The tram shelter should stay, the Westbank geust house is willing for cctv in his property, it should not be shut away in the transport museum, where it will be forgotton and would also look out of place, we have lost to many landmarks do not let us loose another

Agree about the location of the shelter Sheila, also good news about Westbank. You just now need someone to cough up the money.

i don't see this argument about giving in to vandals as valid, we lock our front door when we go out, put a car in a garage when available for our own peace of mind, not because we are giving into burglars or car thieves.
cctv is mostly irrelevant as most perpetrators of minor offences cover their faces.

howard;
unusual to see me lining up with roger and not be in agreement with you on this one.
Have said all this before, as sheila again confirms, a local is happy to have the cctv in his home.
Locals like myself happy to get iunvolved happy to go to each of the schools, media etc.

Maybe the way to avoid future vandalism is to put the tram shelter to use again, are the tram lines still under the tarmacadam?
It shouldn't cost that much to bring the trams back and would improve DDC's carbon footprint as a forward thinking council no end
What number tram do I need for Folkestone?

Whoever is going to set up CCTV trained at a property which is not household is going to have to be very careful he or she is acting legally. There are very strict legal parameters for surveillance. If the purposes of the CCTV fall under the Data Protection Act, which is highly possible given that the majority of tram shelter users will be perfectly legitimate and just going about their business, the owner needs to ensure he doesn't fall foul of the law. Signs need to be set up and there are rules about retention of footage.
No matter how well intentioned, I just hope whoever it is does his homework first. Even if he catches evidence of a crime in progress, unless the DPA instructions are followed exactly, the evidence could be thrown out of court which would be a huge waste of time and everyone's money.
EDIT - (Oh, you've already covered all this earlier in the thread. That'll teach me not to read the whole of it first.)
