Well, where do I start after a 2yr gap?
I could go on and on about this one but will try and keep it short. Is there any change............NO.
After reading what I posted and the following comments, I still feel the same.
For a little while there seemed to be a light at the end of the tunnel, we had some very good people in the right place doing the right job and then it seemed because they where doing the right thing, they disappeared off the radar, one person in particular.
Iv'e been fortunate to know a lot of councilors from all parties who are very good at their jobs and it seems to me that whatever they strive to do for the good there is at least one that drags it down into the pits ( no name slinging here ).
I usualy don't do a lot of shouting or get into polotics but to me there is something seriously wrong with this town.
The people of this town are fantastic and if I cared to live anywere else I can't imagine it would be as slow as this place.
Talk talk talk, is all one ever hears.
but I'm happy to stay as I'd hate to leave my familly and friends.
As you all know, my biggest bug bear is the river. I and a happy bunch of volunteers looked after it and it stayed clean, I did it for over 25yrs, then an official body moves in and guess what, Talk Talk Talk.
Its got far too much weed in it and even more crap than before, Illegal fishing is out of hand and the official body has'nt got the manpower to police it. But they still tell us what a fantastic river we have and how clean it is. B******s.
Of course with the state this fair land is in at the moment can you honestly say with your hand on your heart that ANYTHING is going to happen soon? whilst is must agree with the thrust of your post, it left out that a group of volunteers from the white cliffs countryside project do regular clean ups.

Saw about 6 of them the other day by Morrisons. I didn't challenge them because I don't know the fishing seasons, and they might have thought me an old trout and stuck a hook in me gob!

I do apologies for leaving that bit out Howard and I have to agree that yes they do a very good job indeed, only on the wrong days ( midweek ) and not enough of them and not often enough.
I couldn't operate a team now even if I had the heart to do it. the WCCP took all of our equipment without so much as a thank you, all paid for by the old TCM. nearly £2.500 if I remember rightly.
I had a neighbour knocking on the door last week telling me about dead fish in the river, their all over the place she said.
All due to yoofs catching them, killing them and at the end of the day they can' be bothered to take them home so they throw them back in.
Anyway back to the original question. were you happy with my reply about the town? you will get me started on the river.

Incidently, on the subject of the river, I know you told me a bit of the politics, but what would happen if someone just popped a pair of wader`s on and started tidying the river up, would they be at odd`s with either the river authorities or any council? And if told to stop, but carried on, would they be liable to prosecution?Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

sheer penny pinching but the will to do anything is not there.
too late now to do anything about the river or the town, the new cuts at councils will ensure that for the next 5 years even the status quo(sorry vic) will not be maintained.
many of us have banged on about the benefits of one person employed to cover the park and river areas spread over 7 days a week so that it would always be unannounced when the warden arrives.
the warden with powers to issue on the spot fines for littering, problem behaviour, illegal fishing etc.

If you popped a pair of waders on and started doing your own thing ( for the good of the community ) you would probably be jumped on by the E.A.
It's now their river and you don't know anything about BIODIVERSITY.
Remember that word cos your going to hear it quit a lot if you get involved.
Prosecution??????Illegal fishing, Flytipping and a host of other things tend to be ignored. you do your own thing mate and you'll be easy pickings. a bit like parking your car for 30 seconds and you get a ticket.

Well, if your original question had been phrased in such a way so as not to take the piss, Sid, you might have got a sensible answer. I don't see any pi$$ taking in there, just a simple enquiry as to what else UKIP had in their locker to improve matters apart from leaving the EU. I didn't realise it was such a sensitive issue. But UKIP has 12MEPs,Two lords, and more than 100 local councillors spread across the land.
While withdrawal from the EU political superstate is central to UKIP MESSAGE,The party has a full range of policies that have helped it grow to become Britain,fourth largest political party.
And I can see UKIP soon going higher. - 23 June 2010 22:4357735Thanks for the response Vic; I will certainly reacquaint myself with those Manifesto policies, but, what I was really after was what UKIP had in store for Dover specifically (apart from DHB stuff) bearing in mind the local elections in a few months time.
