BTW I have never known my road to be so quiet very few pedestrians or cars.
A baby boom from the over 70’s staying indoors Jan? What are you lot like in Dover, I would choose a stiff walk and a cup of tea any day!
Also if you meant the boom being triggered by the youngsters confined to isolation, how would this work observing the 2 metres separation advice?
On reflection it could be the Pinocchio story was adapted so as not to offend common decency!

To be completely honest I now think the media frenzy with this virus reminds me of the Brexit endless waffle.
Any really important message has already been hammered into us and now I find the continuous going on about it on the TV news no longer holds my undivided attention and at times is simply irritating.

I see HMG has just announced school closures from Friday - we will have to wait and see what that means in Dover where 60% of kids get free school meals

Here is an announcement from the europa.eu website:
“ The European Commission is coordinating a common European response to the outbreak of COVID-19. We are taking resolute action to reinforce our public health sectors and mitigate the socio-economic impact in the European Union. We are mobilising all means at our disposal to help our Member States coordinate their national responses and are providing objective information about the spread of the virus and effective efforts to contain it. ”
It seems to me that the only resolute action taken has been by national governments. Perhaps one of the EU-apologists among us can explain what use Brussels actually is to us?

Worse in Tesco this morning, they clearly haven’t been re-stocking overnight either.

At Morrisons before 7 this morning car-propelled panickers were queueing with their deep trollies almost round to the doors of Asda. (I guess if Asda had opened their doors early the rearenders would have just turned around and headed on through.) More tills open though, and that means you can be in and out with a bag's worth before most are even a quarter full.

Even though my daughter works in Morrisons we are now virtually out of washing up liquid, it does help when they do not get an overnight delivery. Then there are the selfish still trying to load up with things meaning those buying for others under house arrest have to go without, I understand most items are now restricted to either two or three of each. Yesterday my daughter gave an elderly man the toilet rolls she had got put by, we have still got a couple of days supply in the house, this was at about 10.00 and the shelf was already empty.

Meanwhile in Italy there is plenty of food on the shelves as people are acting responsibly.

To be honest Bob, at this point who really cares about voting intentions?
The things we should be worrying about are (in my view and in no particular order):
How do we ensure that everyone is able to get at least basic foodstuffs. medicines, toiletries and cleaning products when they need them
How do we ensure that people are able to continue to pay their rent/mortgage and utilities if they are unable to work due to their employer having to shut
What do we do to ensure kids due to take exams are properly assessed and receive the appropriate grades
How do we ensure that businesses are helped to stay afloat until this pandemic has passed and what stake in those businesses should the state get in return for any bailout - I would suggest small businesses are given non-repayable grants to cover their costs and salaries, SMEs and large enterprises a mix of grants and interest free loans in return for a share in the business (as we did with the bailed out banks in 2008)
How can we all help ensure the NHS and social care is able to continue to provide for those in need
In the face of social distancing and self (or imposed) isolation how can we maintain a sense of community and ensure people get the help they need
How do we protect essential workers and ensure that they can continue to look after the rest of us

Agreed Ross. Merely pointed out that most people are backing HMG. (In spite of calls for govt of national unity or even one run by present living PMs
