Been watching the first warm up game against Nigeria, I believe Gareth Southgate got some good investment advice from his opposite number. Anyway back to the tournament and the choice of players going - I think the selection of almost all young players is a good one.
Nobody expects them to do well, hopefully qualify from the group stage then maybe get a lucky break in the round of the last 16. The players will learn a lot from it, even the ones who don't get a game but will benefit from the experience of being at a big tournament. The Euros are in 2020 then the next World cup in 2022 and by then a lot of the current squad will be more mature and prepared.

Bumped into some of England's squad in Asda Folkestone last weekend. I'd say we're definitely in with a chance this year.

Am I the only one who thinks the BBC trailer is awful, that singer now gets muted every time.

Having successfully managed to miss anything to do with the Olympics the other year (BTW, still waiting for that 'legacy' after DDC blowing all that money on fireworks and the Rizzle Kicks, with even even fewer are now taking part in sports locally) I am pleased to say I shall be 'away' for the entire World Cup farce - and a good bit longer.

Shame on you Bob I expected a bit more patriotism from a highly respected politician like you. The good news is that we overcame the might of Costa Rica this evening.

Heard the England manager earlier upon arrival in Russia stating that he wanted the team to play with flair and entertain the public. Fully agree with him and after watching their final warm up game I got the impression they were enjoying things and not feeling under pressure. The most games we are likely to play is 4 maybe 5 and it would be nice to see them knocking the ball around and gaining experience for future tournaments.

I guess that, since Wales failed to qualify, Kinnock Jr needs to take it out on someone:

Royal Mail covering their backs here, one is always likely to come loose and be a serious hazard to cyclist/motor cyclists.

BYE BYE Forum. Off 'til August to where the 4G don't shine but the sun does! (No doubt rumour will say I'm at the Betty Ford or Priory Clinic dealing with various 'issues and/or addictions'!) Have fun. Best wishes to all readers/cyber-stalkers. Bob. XXX
Note to all burglars. My daughter is house sitting while I am away. I certainly wouldn't tangle with her. Just saying."We are living in very strange times, and they are likely to get a lot stranger before we bottom out"

Got underway today with Russia hosting the beheaders, didn't bother to watch it but a few interesting games coming up over the next few days.
My tip not surprisingly is Germany but strange to see the final stages of the World Cup with no Italy or Holland.

Just seen the first car with an England flag flying from it, in previous years there were plenty at the start of tournaments.
